Radio on N95 with external speakers ?

6 replies · 4,197 views · Started 21 April 2008

When listening to the N95's radio using the headphones as the aerial (as stipulated) I am unable to switch the audio output to my bluetooth headphones or my bluetooth speakers (Parrot Party, which are brilliant by the way!).

The only option appears to be the ability to select the N95's built in speakers.

While I'm not so fussed about listening with BT headphones, I would very much like to use my external bluetooth speakers - Am I overlooking something that allows you to do this ?

That's a very tricky situation, I'm not sure if it's possible. For the radio to work, you have to have *something* with a 3.5mm jack plugged into the phone to act as an aerial. Sound is output through the jack by default and the only other setting is loudspeaker, so I'm not sure if bluetooth speakers would work. When you connect them to the phone, do you have the option "Music Stand" appear on the screen like when you plug in a pair of headphones?

If not, the only other way I can think of is using internet radio instead.

I've got a small pair of external speakers that just plug directly onto the side of the phone. Cost very little but work great.

Is there any particular reason why you have to use bluetooth speakers? Whatever phone I've had Nokia or SE, I've never been able to use the bluetooth headset as a headphone, mainly because the wire on the supplied headphones also act as the aerial.

Can't be done mate, unless there is some third party software or trick to do it. I tried it cos I wanted my phone in my rucksack and to use my bluetooth headphones but if there is anything plugged into the jack, it uses that as the output and, as stated earlier, the only other option is the built in speaker. Seems like a design oversight to me.

I use the speakers to listen to the radio all the time I do this by plugging in the hands free kit that came with the phone minus the headphones. and clicking cancel when the phone asks what's connected.

Edit, misread original question.

sounds weird - with my BT headset I get every damn sound the phone makes through the earpiece and can't seem to stop it (to be honest - i haven't looked very hard. it normally just gets thrown in the back of the car 😊 )
