Hi friends,
I need help to decide my next phone. I thing this is the right place to ask. I am positive about E90, but want to confirm the features before spending the money. I need following features:
1) VOIP calls using wifi, fring to use sip client.
2) Using internet by wifi.
3) Using webpages to talk and dial out numbers (on wifi)
4) Watching full screen movies, divx, xvid etc.
5) Using internet chat on public wifi.
6) Want to use my 3.5mm creative in-ear headphone( Any workaround)
7) Video chat over wifi
8) Internet browser with flash support.
9) Yahoo mail, google mail etc.
10) What is the maximum size of SDHC card supported. Some websites mention 2GB, some 4GB, some 8GB.......
11) For SDHC card, which class does it support class 6 or 4 or 2 only.
Please suggest me about these features. Can I get these features on other phones like Nokia N81 8GB? Because I don't need whole feature set of E90.
Thanks in advance.
1) Yes. (i use Fring)
2) Yes.
3) Yes.
4) Yes. (I use 'media coder'. Great results)
5) Yes. (I don't 'chat', but there are several apps that will let you do it)
6) Yes. (2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter. Couple of $$,or , depending where you live. I got mine here)
7) No. (not AFAIK anyway) The inner camera on the E90 is Nokia's version of an appendix. Serves no known purpose, and no-one knows why its there)
8) Yes. Mostly. (newer firmware has Flash 3.0, so you can watch youtube, etc. But not all flash pages work with the installed browsers. Thats not just an E90 problem).
9) Yes. (Works for me anyway)
10) Currently 8gb. (thats the largest right now. Supports all Micro SD cards. I just ordered an 8gb, there are 12gb or 16gb around the corner, and even larger next year).
11) No idea.
If you can live with the size, the E90 is a great phone. Otherwise stick with an N95 8gb or N82. They'll do the same things.
Thanks friend for such prompt reply,
For sdhc card, may I assume that it will support any card with sdhc label? Class in sdhc card defines speed of data transfer. I suppose inner camera works for video call in 3g networks. Does these other phones(N95, N82, N81) are fast enough for good video playback, voice chat, internet related applications....any idea?
The main appeal with the E90 for most i would think, is the large internal screen, as you correctly pointed out phones such as the n95 and so on do much the the same feature wise and possibly a little more (such as video and picture editing). So it boils down to weather you want a huge screen and a qwerty keyboard really. I came from an n95 to my e90 and i had already decided i wanted a qwerty keyboard on my next phone and was hoping i didn't have to go back to windows mobile to get it. So the e90 was the obvious choice, glad i did now but it ticks me off that i can't do video and image editting from time to time i must say.
This a fantastic phone. the inner camera is for video conferencing which we have here ( 3G). Its just terrific
For me, E90 substitutes completely the PC during my 3 days working trips.
It is great!
Office, GPS, Photo, Calendar, Contacts, E-mail, Web and RSS, mp2 player...
I have a 8Gb SDHC that works perfectly.
Hi friends,
I think about for a while, and decided that I really don't need a qwerty keyboard. In that case, to maintain the same feature set. I am considering E51 model. It has everything E90 has minus big screen, qwerty kb and good camera. It does support SDHC 8 GB card.
Am I correct? 😊

I'm sorry to say but there are much more differences beteween E90 and E51...
Camera, GPS, connecttion option and others...
If you want you have N82 with similar properties...
Hi,
Thanks for the advice. Would you please have a look on my main needs in the first post. May be that will provide more clear picture. 😊

The answer to your question is....
NO!
I think that N82 or, if you prefer, N95 fit perfectly your needs.
If you want to wait, you'll have N96 (expensive I think - July 2008) or N78 (First Nokia with S60 v3 fp2 I think - June 2008).
All this N Series phones will fit your requests.
Hi friends,
Thanks for nice suggestions 😊
I am wondering why nobody recommends E51? It has whole lot of features. Is there something bad about E51 that I don't know. 🙄

E51 is not a good multimedia device!
GPS, camera, sound,... Features that E90 have! and any N series too.
And some N series have the connection features that you want.
Go to nokia site and compare the phones! Another good site for you to find out the best phone for you is

go I see Steve's table! Very good!
The N series seems to be what you want - which is why I said you shouldn't buy the E90.
Why do you still ask about E series phones when people have already explained why the N series is better for you?
