The steady flow of N-Gage games titles continues, but the latest, The Sims 2: Pets, is distinctly underwhelming, with Tzer2 on our sister All About N-Gage site awarding it only 55%, declaring it to be almost devoid of gameplay and saying that it can be effectively finished in a few hours. Here's looking ahead to Pro Series Golf...

the ngage 2.0 platform as it is now since it's first beta release never seem that it will "fly high" up in the mobile gaming community and after reading the review, this further deepens my opinion that nokia has still a huge task to lift the platform to become like a social thing. The ngage software lags a lot and many people would think twice before launching it because no one wants to wait several seconds before actually getting to the title screen of the game. Well, at least, I hope Nokia does take into consideration all the critics/complains that have been written all over different forums on the web to improve the ngage. An only dedicated gaming phone would have definitely prove to be more advantageous for them instead of releasing it for many phones as an application - one of their biggest mistakes i think to target a worldwide audience? I think that they are spending more money for correcting the flaws and to improve compatibility instead of profits nope?
Clad, this is a third party release within months of the platform launching, and third party support tends to be poor on all gaming platforms. Look at how bad the third party launch games were on the Xbox 360 or PS3 for example.
First party stuff tends to be better because the platform holders have an incentive to invest in the platform, but third party publishers want to wait until they've seen how big the userbase becomes.
You can't really judge any gaming platform until it's been around for a year or more.
The real launch of N-Gage hasn't even happened yet, because that will be when it's built into phones straight out of the box:

Actually that would be a disaster.
Dedicated gaming devices sell in tiny numbers, consoles only sell maybe 30 million to 50 million a year in total, whereas phones sell over 1000 million a year.
Most phone gamers enjoy the games but don't want a dedicated gaming device.
Incidentally, the review isn't so much complaining about the game only lasting a few hours, the problem is that it isn't even enjoyable for these hours, and there's no replay value.
There's just no fun at all to be had in this game, and the only point of a game is to have fun.
Woah.. I tried the trial, and was already bored out of my mind. However, I did assume there would be more characters and scenes/locations in the full version. I am absolutely astonished to hear there aren't. What a remarkable steaming pile of BS, especially given that the first N-Gage Sims was actually a really decent game.
The only hope this game has is that some parents buy it for their 6-8 year olds to keep them entertaine during _one_ roadtrip to the grandparants house...
Again, I simply cannot believe how bad this game is - a classic "what were they thinking..."
Yup. Like I said in the review, the graphics and interface are fine but they seem to have forgotten to include any gameplay of any kind.

Well, that's why I recommended at the end of the review that people who want to buy it should get this on a day pass, which only costs a couple of euros. You can play the entire game in a few hours, and I do mean the entire game including every single point pickup. There's no skill involved in any of the mini-games, and they don't get any harder.
