Simlar to what happened with the 7650 FAQ, I would like to start compiling a database of FAQ's for the P800.....you know along the lines of How do I change my SMS tone.
To some of you that are new to the forum or weren't around at the release of the 7650, is was all starting to get a bit tedious with the same Questions being asked on a Daily basis....so I think if we can get a good FAQ sooner rather than later it can only be a good thing.
I plan to do it a little bit differently to the 7650 FAQ, as that wasn't exactly the most speedy way of doing things.
So if you can think of any questions and you know the answer please post them here or send me an email at the address below.
Izzo 😊
How to change the sms and other messages alert tone?
- 1- Control Panel
2-Connection Tab (look down)
3- Messaging Accounts
4-Click Alerts (bottom right)
Over here you can edit the sms message alert tone for sms, email, mms, are info and AutoSet up..

Would be nice to add a section to hardware related issues,
or maybee just some links to where you can get the Info you want.
1. Memory Cards - do both types work or not, where to buy them
2. Screen protector where can you get one for the P800 ?
3. Bluetooth setup - what devices work, do not work
4. Firmware upgrades,
5. Ringtones, and background
6. Are the P800 Skinnable or not.
7. Where to get software....
Having problems with bluetooth connection. See http://allaboutsymbian.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7855
Thanks CorruptedSanity
Not sure if this is a FAQ, but I want to ask how people handle the fact that the pouch supplied with the phone is useless to carry it around, and existing belt clips on the market don't seem to be usable with the P800... any tip would be helpful...
lostgweilo,
Ill be honest, ive had cellphones from the mid 90's and which are basically Nokia's and Ericssons and I have never used a pouch.
Even though its a 900 $ and ppl use the pouch to protect it. At first i didnt coz well i saw no reason to protect it. But the screen has this problem coz it attracts lint from mypocket makin the screen ugly ( to me ).. So thats why I use it..First day i was like ..ooh this aint nice and stufff..but then I didnt even notice..when i get a call.. i pull my phone out like i normally would and I just pull open the cover and use it.. I mean all this takes less than a split second to open it.. o_O  whats the big deal..
if u dont wanna use it.dont lol 😃
pdaPhoneHome has a growing FAQ for the P800. It is user fed, so if you have a tip or helpful idea, you can submit it there very easily.

Well, it's not so much about protecting the phone, but about *carrying it*. A belt clip is nice, I had one for my Nokia 8210, then for my T68i, and now I am addicted to it.
lostgweilo, my apologies.
See I come from a culture where its not possible to carry it on a belt clip.Since we dont wear pants 😉 :P That is why I did not relate to you what your saying.....so how about checking a few threads close to ur one about a phone case using a Canon Camera case... 😊

Hi Lostgweilo!
I use a hip leathercover originaly ment for the nokia 9110. It opens eacely and has room for the P800, even with the little Ericsson radio and headset attached.
What a great phone/PDA dont U think?

Bjrn

After searching for nearly a week, I bought one leather belt-pouch where P800 fits snugly. This ia no-name pouch - costs S$10 in Singapore.
You can find this information here and there in the topics but I feel it is important to remind every p800 user that you can have a full song as a ringtone (although you might prefer to only have a short excerpt) because you can compress WAV files. This is the procedure I used for my ringtone (which I will not post because of (C) )
1) took the track out of the CD using AudioCrusher -> wav
2) cut it out and converted to mono using Nero WaveEditor (any wav editor would do i guess)
3) opened the Windows Sound recorder (it's in Program -> Accessory somewhere) reloaded the wav and did a Save As changing the Options to IMA ADPCM, 22,5 Khz, 4bit, mono)
4) the 32 MB went down to 1 MB and most of the song is there, with good quality (for a ringtone at least, not comparable with mp3 quality) and very high volume
Tip for those having problems with Bluetooth connections & mrouter - i.e. if you can't get the virtual COM ports to appear in the 'phone connection link' icon in the taskbar.
DISABLE YOUR MODEM!! 😃
heh, been puzzling over this one for an age today, just got and installed my MSI BT dongle, and although i could pair, connect and send data back and forth no problem, mrouter would not show the COM ports my module was using. This means that i couldn't use my computers ADSL connection over my phone (using Opera) via Bluetooth, which was my main reason for getting the USB dongle. Finally, I disabled my ancient 56k backup card in device manager, and they all popped up! (there's about 8-11 com ports used by USB bluetooth modules). Now working great! 😃😃😃
If this should be faq, moderators could clean out off topic messages.

I guess the reason for these is the MODEM was hogging the comports, also some other solutions would be to disable all other devices that are not in use to free up IRQ's that would be used by free comports 😊
Does anyone know all the special jogdial (up/down) * combinations that causes special features (reset, service menus, etc.) to pop up?

Hi Delfino,
Just wanted to know where exactly in Singapore did you find this pouch? And would you mind posting some pix?
Thanks.

Rambo on nintendo to have more lives. 😉 😉
Sonic the hedgehog on the Mega Drive/Master System?
is it possible to receive sms delivery notification on P800?
If yes how to activate it
I would like to be able to add emoticons/animated gifs in SMS mode others than those allready installed in the phone. I transfer some on my memory stick but they only appeared in the MMS mode which I don't want to use always. Does anybody have an idea ? 😮
And is there a soft on the market to view the complete architecture of the phone on my PC. A sort of "windows explorer" where i can even view the hidden files of the P800 ?
Thanks for help
