The Nokia 6650, previously a T-Mobile (EU) exclusive handset, is headed to the USA and will be carried by the operator AT&T. The AT&T variant supports the 850/1900 WCDMA bands and features AT&T Navigator and Music services. The 6650, which we reviewed here (T-Mobile variant), has a 2.0 megapixel camera, cover screen UI, integrated GPS and a high capacity (1500 mAh) battery.

What is the difference between the T-mobile version and the AT&T version ?
Also, so does this mean that no nokia device in the states will ever have Ovi services ?

Aside from the WCDMA bands and the AT&T Navigator / Music services (and other 3rd party software) the two variants are the same.

I'm sure we will eventually see Ovi services on US operator - when they see the light...!

Joking aside operators in the US haven't gone for the Ovi partnership with Nokia that EU operators have. They think they should own the customer end-to-end - whether this is realistic depends on your point of view.

For now though, Ovi service for the US will be through unlocked handset (and possibly downloads).

p.s. someone has just pointed out the Nokia website (from where this info came from is giving an error) not sure whether this is temporary or the info got put up early. I'll leave the story as is for the time being until I know more.

FANTASTIC news! Even if its screwed up a bit by AT&T, any carrier love for S60 is good news. If only it had a 3.5 jack too.. well, can't get everything. 😊

But I think has a reasonable chance of actually selling quite well as it has been tailored with the carriers desires in mind (I suspect Nokia must have had both T Mobile and AT&T in the loop when they designed the thing) - for example, the huge battery may well have been a demand from the carriers (or rather, a long operating time).

Its a cute little phone comes with cute not so little features. Hope it comes for a cute little price also!!!!

Very nice. It's good to see a clamshell smartphone of any kind. QWERTY smartphones are fine, but there is a segment of consumers looking for a small phone with a standard keypad, that also has a robust OS and rich media features. This fits the bill.
