HSPA/CDMA 2100 3g question

Hello all,

I have this question here that i believe some one can answer or guide me to the right path I have my excellent working N95 8Gb phone which i bought directly from nokia Asia unlocked and unbranded version and i am using it here in Canada with Rogers with there data plan.

As far as i understand my phone is 3g capable and it should show the sign of 3g while i am using rogers data, now the problem is i don't see 3g sign on the phone while i use data i spoke to rogers they asked my replace my 5 years old sim i did that and nothing any way make the long story short they bounce me to Nokia support they said that my phone is capable of using 3g and it does support wcdma 2100 frequency check with rogers what they use for 3g frequency so again i called them and they told me that they use HSPA 850/1900 frequency.

Now my question that my phone is debranded and unlocked in order to use rogers 3g HSPA 850/1900 frequency do i have to brand to rogers and change my firm ware to there firmware or is there any other way around there & if i have to do that than how do i do that process any help is appreciated thanks in advanced.

Regards.

Note my firm ware is 20.0.016 RM320

I think that the the bands supported are in the hardware, not firmware.

The version comparison table here says your model only supports 2100MHz - it's not one of the North American (NAM) models.

your n95 from nokia asia does NOT have north american 3G frequencies, and there is nothing you can do. youhave to get the n95-4 which has 850/1900 HSDPA. so basically you need a new phone to use 3G on rogers.

Thanks for the info there so i guess i have to change the phone in order to get the use of 3g 😞
