Hi guys,
thought you might like to know, there is an update on the Route 66 web site that sorts the problem of downloading maps,
http://www.66.com/support/index.php?cid=UK&opt=updates_detail&prod=2
just connect in mass storage mode and run the update, disconnect and download your maps over wifi, if only Samsung customer support had known about it when I first rang them!
Unfortunately... the up to date version is already on the i8510
I can't argue with you, all I know is that the update specifically mentions addressing this problem on the I8510, and that before I ran it I couldn't download maps, now I can;)
Good news guys. I've now found that since appyling the update/patch above, and with the I8510 connected in mass storage mode, I can now use the Route 66 sync software from their web site:-

to manage the installation; add maps, voices etc and backup.
