There is no mention of hardware 3D accelerator, though there are two pre-installed 3D games (Global Race and Bounce). Are these games in software 3D?
Or maybe they just forgot to mention the presence of a hardware accelerator in 3D.

Also any news on whether S60 5th edition is finally bringing back Connection Groups ?

Yes you get destinations like you do in FP2 devices.

No 3D hardware.

Reading through some of the comments.. my inputs:

I don't think "Multi Touch" has been patented by apple, the first device to use it was Microsoft Surface which has been in development since 2001. The HTC Touch Diamond (which I own) has a bottom panel which supports multi touch (the circle can act like a ipod wheel on certain roms).

As for texting etc. I hope Nokia will include a keypad like the one on the Diamond. It's a simple keypad which is the same as a button layout. EG:

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
# 0 *

and you simply text as you would with buttons. I use predictive text so to type nokia i would press 66542 (or if not with T9, 66666553332)

No but the hardware for multi touch is significantly more expensive and requires different driver support. Apple for instance use conductive screens that require actual touch and are more responsive ( in most situations ) as opposed to the resistive screen that nokia are using. A circular movement does not require multitouch as your finger is only ever in one place the screen simply tracks as you move. Multitouch is the ability to say touch two points on a photo and rotate pinch etc like surface and ipod touch/phone or have a keyboard style app which lets you play choords.

If you mean a basic phone keypad layout which emulates one as such then yes. Have a look at the video that demonstrates the different methods of touch entry. They are Keypad, Qwerty, Full screen Qwerty and handwriting recognition.

I have had mine for 3 days now, it's a good phone, has enough features to keep anyone busy. I was going to buy an N96 but when I saw the 5800 I changed my mine mind, it fits in my pocket without being uncomfortable. A few firmware quirks are evident when you use it, sometimes the full size QWERTY keyboard gets confused when typing out SMS's and gets stuck on caplock, other issue is that when watching youtube the picture is very pixellated, 3G or WIFI and surfing the net on it is not a great experience. Camera is not good unless under full light outdoor photos. Besides these few points I am happy with my purchase.

Hi, actually i bought nokia 5800 from china but i have read somewhere that chinese nokia 5800 has not wi-fi system, is it true, but if its not, can anybody tell me how can i connect it on my set.

I have a nokia 5800XM and is gooood!!! size, battery life, screen, sensors, OS, the only thing that is not good at all is the ovi software that comes with the phone, I rather use it, I prefer to connect the phone directly and manage the files by myself, something that I love is the battery life awesome.

Does anyone know how the Nokia 5800 stacks up against the LG Viewty?

I currenty own a Viewty but was thinking of replacing it with a 5800.

that's funny, because windows 7 offers multi-touch capabilities on touch-screen PCs.
Unless you mean that Apple has patented multi-touch ONLY on mobile phones..then yeah, you're right..
Anyway, I have one of these. Nowhere near as powerful or as speedy as an iPhone or iPod touch even, UI-wise, but it does have more features, a better camera, better music audio quality, better bluetooth, and it's heaps cheaper.
ALL that said, however, I AM genuinely considering purchasing the next iPhone when it comes out (allegedly mid-2010). The UI...and the apps too...are just tops.
