Having trouble using webviewer with o2.

Does anyone know if u have to have mobile web set up to use webviewer on my 7650 on the 02 network?

I have tried it with settings people have already posted on this forum and these are the same settings that 02 mobile web uses.

So just wondering if these people have 02 mobile web set up on there sim?

o2 really seem to have messed up here... I spoke with their customer services, and they have told me that you can either:

Use GPRS to send MMS/browse WAP pages

=== OR ===

Use GPRS to check email/browse web pages

I explained my belief that GPRS can handle all of these things at the same time, and was told I was wrong. They were adamant that it is not possible to use GPRS for all 4 actions... when I tried explaining 1) GPRS is a way of sending TCPIP data accross a network (I know there's more to it than that, but for the sake of simplicity...), and the 4 things I'm trying to do all use data packets sent accross a network using protocols from the TCP/IP suite, and 2) that I could do this with T-Mobile, I was told that I must be wrong.

Basically, the simple solution is...

-Phone o2 CS
-Explain you want to use GPRS for email/web rather than WAP
-Wait half an hour on hold (at 50p per minute) while the person you're speaking looks up the definitions of the terms "GPRS", "WAP", "web" and in extreme cases, "customer services"
-The will make a change on your account, it'll take 24 hours to go through
-Happy surfing! 😃

Change on my account? Does that mean they will be activating this mobile web thing?

The reason you cannot have GPRS WEB, GPRS WAP AND MMS on the one accout is due to their billing system not a technical incompatibiltiy. As such GPRS WAP & MMS will be free until a system upgrade is completed in the near future (6-8 weeks is one figure i've read on another board).

I sometimes wish the CS advisors of the big 4 (4 and a half if you include Virgin Mobile 😉) phone operators would read AAS - they might then be informed as to what is actually going on with their service!
