Can anyone please help getting Remote S60 to work? Using TDK BT adapter with XP. BT tray icon says BT is using Port 4 and 5.
I have the mRouter icon showing connected but don't get anything between phone and pc.
Ideas anyone? Perhaps a step-by-step walkthrough so I can know what I am doing/not doing correctly.
thanks
Remote S60 - can't get it to work
open your mRouter and untick all the boxes, then try again 😉

I have tried that a few times but still nothing.
I can copy to the phone (e.g. copying to Public folder in device in BT neighbourhood) and from the phone without problems.
In MRouter, port 5 shows connected and I have a check mark against serial port 5 on RemoteS60.
If Mrouter is all unchecked, and I start RS60 first, it shows status message of listening. If I then enable com 4 or 5 in mrouter, an error popsup saying port in use.
The connected icon in systray for mrouter is showing at the moment.
Still no connection with RS60....
Port 5 is also my BT serial port. It fails to connnect propperly first time but if i cancel it while its trying and reconnect again straight away it makes the connection.

I got problems too. Im using IR, would Remote 60 work on IR? What should i use? the IRCOMM or the TinyP..something? 😃
Well, it worked for me at COM8 (COM9 is my 7650 as modem). I can say that this is the best app for 7650 so far!!! I gonna buy it definitely!!!
nooo, you cant have any connections with anything but the remote60, untick all the boxes in mRouter and dont have any other connections to the computer at all
Don't even bother with their bluetooth connection method it looks pretty unreliable and who can be fagged having to uncheck in the mrouter all the time.
Just set up a serial port connection method as usual through bt tray then start the remote application on PC and set it to listen by internet port method.
Then start the app on the 7650 and set it to go to you local IP address or your outside address, or even your no-ip address or the machine name followed by :4567
If there is a open serial port it won't ask for a connection APN it will just start sending it via bluetooth.

Do you mean I right click on BT icon in tray then choose Serial port and select 7650?

So do you mean I use 127.0.0.1:4567 or my IP address as in xx.xx.xx.xx:4567 ?

Er... what is APN?
I tried all you said but still get nothing. Can't even see if the app is nice or not
I've got the phone and the PC app talking, but no picture of the phone appears on the PC, and any 'key' presses don't get sent to the phone. I have a TDK Bluetooth adaptor, and my phone has firmware 3.12 (old I know!) - can anyone tell me if thats the reason this doesn't work?
Thanks,
Z
Thats what happens with me sometimes using 3.12 but with a MITSUMI dongle. When the white screen appears try to connect again on your phone and it may work, it does for me. Sometimes it connects straight away other times I get the white screen first.

Thanks for that, its now working! 😊
I think the tip given by gordon.k is the best so far for using this app. Indeed the BT and IR are not reliable, so the best way is to use TCP/IP, though usual connection to PC Suite.
Thanks gordon.k.
You are a star
I have asked this before, but since I got no answer...
Can anyone please tell me if/how it is possible to use Remote S60 behind a firewall/proxy?
There's a new version of Remote S60 (v1.10) - featuring a connection through the PC Suite / mRouter. It should be much easier to connect Remote S60 now.
You don't have to deactivate the mRouter anymore. Just connect your phone to your PC as usual (with mRouter), start RS60 on your phone, start Remote S60 on your PC and click on Start!.
Of course you can still use direct connections ... (if you figured out how to use them 😮ops: )
Cheers

Yes, it is - as long as you've got access to "one" internet host (UNIX/LINUX/etc. box) without a firewall. Remote S60 is compatible with the DCC Relay Proxy that we've released for WirelessIRC.
You can download a simple Java implementation of such a relay proxy from http://mobileways.de/DCCrelay.java. Compile and run it on a computer which is connected to the internet w/o a firewall. Configure Remote S60 to use this proxy, click on the checkbox to activate a connection to this proxy. Now, Remote S60 displays an IP-address and port which you can use with RS60 on your phone.
(Of course you can use DCC relay proxies operated by other people - if you do not have "shell-access" to an internet host.)
Cheers
Ole
P.S.: If you just want to use the TCP/IP feature of Remote S60 locally with the PC Suite then you don't have to worry about a firewall 😉
Thank you very much for your reply janole!
Although I am not familiar with DCC relay proxies at all, I will give it a try if I can (not sure if they will let me run it on such a computer at the company - for security reasons).
By the way, I was wondering why Remote S60 is not mentioned anywhere at the mobileways site? Maybe a FAQ there would help more people... (I assume you work for mobileways?)
And, of course, congratulations for a simply GREAT application!
