using S60 makesis without Visual Studio

Is it possible to use S60 makesis without Visual Studio? If it is, what components should I install from the SDK?

I don't know the S60 sdk, so correct me if I'm wrong.

In the 9210 sdk (and all other sdks before that), makesis is not dependent on VS. It is an exe file. It is possible that is uses perl, but I'm not sure about that.

The file is located in \Symbian\6.0\Shared\EPOC32\Tools.
