Does the announcement of UIQ 2.1 mean it would be possible for a p800 to have a UIQ upgrade in the future ?? - ( I think the p800 uses 2.0 ?)

Not thats theres anything very wrong with the current one 😊

Interesting...
What is UIQ and what is Symbian OS?
Is it something like Linux/X11?
That is, Symbian OS being the foundation and UIQ the GUI?

"UIQ is a user interface platform for Symbian OS, especially designed for advanced media rich mobile phones"

I think it's more like MS-DOS and Windows or any other shell.

You're right. UIQ is the user interface that runs on-top of the Symbian OS on the P800, and it's made by UIQ Technology AB (fully owned by Symbian Ltd) in Ronney, Sweden. On the 7650 the user interface is called Series 60.
