There is no update for PC 0574325 right now, just checked it. It's a unbranded German phone.

I managed it now. Changed PC to Euro1 0555817 which also includes German language beside French, Spanisch, English, Portugese. Finally got rid of turkish 😊

just from playing around a bit .. it actually seems to scroll properly.

No major pain - gotta love FP2 .. no backup required .. though you'd be mad not to! 😉

"no user files or settings were harmed in the making of this upgrade" 😊

I've got an N85 sourced from the Nokia online store. Used NSS to change the product code to 0572869 as no update available on original product code. Now updated.

As I previously had an N95 I was used to deleting all my memory card-installed applications PRIOR to firmware updates and then reinstalling each individually after the update had completed. I also had to then re-sync all my contacts and calendar bits and pieces and generally spend around half an hour customising settings, etc.

It would appear the N85 firmware update does not overwrite personal data. All my contacts and calendar info, personalised ring tone settings, etc were all still there post update although I did remove the memory card apps first as I was used to doing that with the N95. Just reinstalling them now.

Can't say I've noticed any immediate difference in the few minutes I've been using the N85 post update.

Upgrades .. its seems no one is game to try it! Wanna test it out for us?! 😉

I suspect you should be able to use FOTA (we know its not really free most places) I'd be making sure I had a Wifi connection for this.

Why not use NSU ??

Can someone please tell me how you changed the product code for the N85? I have a N79 and I guess they will be the same. Everytime I use NSS I get an error messege when I attempt something.

should I take out the memory card before updating? or should i leave it in ? do i have to erase everything on card and phone memory before updating?

In fact you don't even have to back anything up .. but you'd be mad not to.

i tried updating fw but after the fw downloads and it tries installing and says 15 min remaining, my phone screen goes black, looks like its off and the light around the naviweel stays lit and the update never progresses. after a while the phone restarts...i think i have the malaysian/singapore version phone.

I changed my code to Euro 1 .. and tried again .. worked fine .. you have to be a little patient OR you could try the FOTA update (if you have WiFi)
Tools / Utilities / Device manager / Options .. Check for updates ..

Good luck! 😊

I upgraded the firmware via the process outlined here (works like a charm) OTA (UTMS) does not work, had to go via the software.

However, I feel like my calls drop more now with this upgrade, only on 3g however

Original Product code: 0569601: Arabic 1
Current Product code: Europe 1

when i try updating through my phone throght tools/utilities/dev manager it says no update available but when i plug into cpu and update through nokia updating software it says update available/

Does anyone know if Windows Live Messenger now works with the new firmware? I can't upgrade yet since they haven't released it for Hong Kong phones 😞
