Programme 70 of The Phones Show just went live and will hopefully be of interest. I do mini video reviews of the Samsung INNOV8 and i7110, deliver some comment on the Nokia N97 and then launch into a six minute critique of the N97, E71 and E90-competing Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 - it's very well built but, like the Samsungs, could do with some fixing up and optimisation.

I have been usng the Vodafone X1 (with a more recent ROM) for about 4 weeks and actually its not that bad. Yes the panels could be a bit quicker (I don't use Facebook) but you normally only use 1-2 panels most of the time. I get the odd lag in response. The main issue is bluetooth - not as stable as on Symbian SE devices. The X1 is the only WM6 device I have used daily for over 4 weeks and I plan to continue using it. The high res screen and general ergonomics make it a usable implementation of WM6.1. But I still can't completely stop using my E90 😊
Steve you forgot to mentioned one big designed fault/limitation in the otherwise great i7110 design, the Samsung proprietary connector for data/audio/charging...please we want 3.5mm & microUSB standard on all Samsung S60 devices, we are entering 2009 after all....:con?
Sure there is USB Charging, but still...
I thought I did mention it - or maybe that was in the AAS review.... there are pros and cons here. Convenience vs standards.... it's a tough call!
Informative and entertaining as usual, thanks Steve.
Great show once again Steve, keep up the good work.! Looking forward to March 09..!
