Skyfire in the UK - now it's official

Yes, so many of us have been playing with the new proxy-based, video-friendly, S60-native browser Skyfire over the last few weeks. It has now gone official though, with links, press release extracts and an official Skyfire FAQ below.

Read on in the full article.

Downloaded a new version for my E90 last night.

Works, to an extent on the internal screen. Flickr, for example looks decent. Facebook renders well. Basically, anything with static content renders okay, however data entry is impossible and screen updating works in two steps (left hand side, then right hand side), and any activity (e.g. flash video etc) will only work on the first 340 wide pixels on the internal screen.

Quite sluggish on the internal screen too. That said, I think the E90 is probably underpowered for rendering the internal screen. VNC is similarly like wading through treacle on the internal screen compared to the external.

Significantly more responsive on the external screen and data entry is possible (click on the area and a T9 entry form appears). I may use this for heavy content sites such as Facebook, but it will in no way replace my S60 browser as my main browser.

Have to say though, the idea is executed very well and bodes well for the future.

Interestingly, the Allaboutsymbian site no longer works for me either in Skyfire or Opera Mini, just get a blank page

Ratkat - I have the same experience of Opera Mini no longer loading the Allaboutsymbian website. Anyone know what's going on here?
