Long, long term review of the Nokia N82

Now this is what you call a long term review. One year of hard use and over 3000 photos later, Eric's Corner presents a long, detailed look back at how the Nokia N82 has stood up to every day life. Along similar lines, did you know that since July 2006, I've taken over 1,300 videos with my Nokia N93 and since January 2005, I've (apparently) taken over 8,000 photos with the 6630, N70, N93 etc. Rafe calls me an 'edge case'. Hmmm....

Read on in the full article.

- Well, in my spare time I have clocked 15.000 kilometers with Nokia Maps running on the N95 and the N82. The biggest difference between the N95 is that it really needs that charging cable in the car. And the N82 can easily live without for one or two hours of driving.
- Also I have actively read and received at least 2000+ e-mail in the last year on my phones, not mentioning the ones written on it. At least 20% was replied directly from the phone. This accounts for 90% of my private e-mail.
- Talking pictures: 99% of the pictures on the phone needing to be shared with other people, were e-mailed directly from the phone by wifi or 3G.

Yes, I really need a 5Mpixel, Xenon Nokia with mini-qwerty. .

N82 is the best phone that i have used and so far i haven't found any phone yet that can replace it.

I'm using it as my phone, my camera, mp3 player, dvd player, mobile computer, exercise companion and game console. I call the best value, feature pack, all in one device.

Very good read, though I am stilling waiting for V30 to be "hackable" so that I can choose the apps that I want installed...🙄

"N82 is the still the highest specced Nokia till date. No other phone comes close."
I think most of the other n series devices come very very close. I'm very happy with my n95. The only thing i'd like from n82 is the flash, but does n82 have infra red port for using it as a remote control? Also, I like watching vids on my n95, and the bigger screen has to play a part in this.

Hey Steve,

Do you sync both your E71 and your N82 together with Exchange? I can understand and agree with you (but my set up is E71 and N95-1).. but I am having some issues with M4E syncing sometimes with the E71. My N95 is solid and has no issues with the sync, but the E71 will stop on the calendar syncing once every few days and requires a full resync.

When I use the E71 by itself, it seems to be fine.. its only when I use both of them together for a period of time that it causes these issues..

Any ideas?

No idea. But then a) I don't own an E71 and b) I have as little to do with Microsoft applications as I possibly can. Hate Outlook, hate Exchange. Both monstrosities. Sorry.

Hail to the N82. I was really disappointed, when the N97 was announced lacking a xenon flash. I was hoping to replace the N82 w/ it, but that's not possible now. Here's hoping Nokia announces a high-end phone(w/ same the features of the N97 plus xenon) in the very near future.
