this cant be true, i dont think its possible to UPGRADE to a lower firmware.
You can't downgrade the firmware.
Please be clear to seek any help
Looks like you've bricked it mate..
Downgrading is possbile with the right HARDWARE equipment (not just with Phoenix, but a proper BB5 flashing tools).
Nokia wont honour the warranty either.. so you're up the proverbial creek without a paddle..

Your best bet is to take it back to Nokia Care Centre and pay for them the fix it for you... as I dont think it is under warranty from using a hacked phoenix to downgrade..
I'm inclined to agree that you have "bricked" your handset by trying to downgrade the firmware from v31 to v30.
Nokia released v31 at the beginning of December and then withdrew it days later as there appeared to be lots of bugs in it. Therefore the latest firmware version is now v30 until these bugs are rectified and a new firmware is released.
As mentioned before, it is possioble to downgrade your firmware but not with NSS (Nemisis) or NSU (Nokia Software Updater) alone.
Just for the hell of it you could try switching your handset off and then holding down the green "Call" key + "*" key and "3" key and at the same time press the power on key and see if this will reboot it. A long shot, but you never know.
Good luck.

I agree about Nokia withdrawing V31, but disagree about any bugs. Im currently running V31 and its far more stable than V30 was, and V30 was quite solid too, V31 may even be hackable, although don't quote me on that.

hahah.. I'll quote you on that..
No.. V31 is not hackable - YET. Its the same with all the other later firmwares for the other models (eg. V110 for E71, V31 for the N95-8GB etc). Carbide does not run properly and is not hackable otherwise.. (not until they can figure out other methods)..
Nokia realised this "vulnerability" and did quite a few firmwares to pull it out..

V31 for the N95 8GB?
I have V31 on my N95-1. I have however been checking daily on my N95-2, but thus far, no updates from V30.

There is no v31 for the N95-8GB yet. I don't think that bchliu was implying that but just talking about "later" firmwares.
Yes, the V31 was only in reference to N95-1. I am not sure the equivalent level in N95-2 (I think V30 from memory)
the problem is still what must be i do.....?
