There are a number of N-Gage games announced for 2009, which one are you most excited about?
Which 2009 N-Gage game are you most looking forward to?
Worms World Party, if it ever does come out. But even that is a game I don't really look forward to much.
It's a weak selection of games in my opinion, and I would love to see a RPG on that list. But no deeper games seem to be made for the N-Gage. Games that you can play for hours and hours, like RPGs (Shadowkey & Rifts for original N-Gage) and strategy games (Civilization for original N-Gage).
Metal Gear Solid, Dirk Dagger and Bounce Boing Voyage are nice, but it doesn't take long until they are finished and they don't have much replay value.
i want WWP to come out on N-Gage, the original WWP was awesome and had high addictive replay value.
i believe the games are short as they are designed for small bursts of fun, i.e. bus trips, breaks, train rides....plus u can hurt your eyes staring at a screen for ages lol.
i guess they could make the story mode longer, but then implement a better "online" feature - which makes the game feel longer, like gears1 and 2. The story mode can be done within a 2days fairly easily, yet online is very addictive and alot of fun.
Kazutoyo, RPGs take a long time to appear on any gaming platform as they're the most time-consuming games to create.
The original N-Gage didn't get its first RPG until 1 year after the launch, and it didn't get Rifts until 2 years after the launch. Next gen has only really launched properly in Autumn 2008, it's still very early days as far as game development goes.
If you're going to compare the old and new gens, you have to give the new gen the same amount of time to get games developed.
Also, got to compare prices too: the original games cost 50 euros each, the next gen games cost 7 to 10 euros each. For the same price as one original gen game I could buy five next gen games.
I think you should try Creatures Of The Deep, that will take you a LONG time to play through, and in its own sort of way it's an RPG-ish game with XP, levelling up, quests, unlockable locations, wandering "monsters" and equipment upgrades.
BTW if you want a Civilization-style game for N-Gage compatible phones I'd strongly recommend the unofficial game Westward, and there are other unofficial strategy games too:
Surprisingly, no one but me voted for Sims 3. Isnt it like a rpg without monsters . . ?
Surprisingly, no one but me voted for Sims 3. Isnt it like a rpg albeit without monsters . . ? The old ngage Sims game gave me weeks n weeks of gameplay. And this one should be even better specially with online gaming.
Arcade, I'm looking forward to the Sims 3 too but Creebies even more (which is what I voted for).
The old gen Sims was indeed an excellent game, lots to do and very well put together. I hope the new Sims 3 is as good.
Thanks tzer. Whats the game Creebies about though ? Cant find any info on it ..
Worms World Party all the way...

It's a first party game by Nokia themselves exclusively for N-Gage, a sort of mixture of Animal Crossing and Sims where you create creatures, take care of them, make homes for them and breed them with each other. There are also mini-games and online features.
It's been in development since 2005 so I'm hoping it should be a real corker, like Reset Generation.
You can find a couple of very early screenshots on AAN's game page for Creebies:

...and there's a leaked trailer floating around on YouTube:

True enough, but these are games that are announced. Not games that are released, and how long will it take until they are? There are high chances that WWP won't be released in 2009 at all since it's "indefinitely postponed". Shadowkey for the original N-Gage was announced half a year (May 3, 2004) before it finally was released (November 11, 2004).

Agreed. The price point of some of the games doesn't make much sense to me. They could probably charge more for CotD, while Dogz is highly overcharged IMO.
I wonder how much say the publishers have regarding the price? Can they say "Hey Nokia, we wanna sell this game for 15-20 cause we put a lot of work on it!" Or have Nokia decided that all games should be 10 or less? If so, then the publishers/devs probably doesn't feel particulary motivated to make larger games for N-Gage.

I'm aware of those and Revival is a very good game. But it's no N-Gage game. There are several good S60v3 games out there, but they don't make the N-Gage brand stronger. They make S60v3 stronger, as people with a E51 (or other random unsupported N-Gage device) can play them.

Nokia's price is more or less what the publishers would do anyway. If you look at the price of phone games sold directly by publishers, they're almost all 5 to 15 euros. 7 to 10 euros seems a fair midpoint, especially as most phone games are closer to 5 euros.
I can't think of any phone game publisher who sells games for anything like the price of console games. It's probably because most people wouldn't be prepared to pay console prices for something they play on a phone.
On the other hand, console games can be resold while phone games seem to have rather restrictive DRM that locks them to one or two phones (as AAN has often complained).

IMHO Westward is as good as any N-Gage game, it's a very high quality title with lots of depth and good production values. It was written for the PC originally and it shows.

Yup, totally agree, which is why Nokia ought to start publishing them on N-Gage.
I've had the same conversation time after time with indie S60 game developers: they want a sales channel to S60 gamers, Nokia has a very good S60 sales channel (N-Gage), but for some reason Nokia won't let them publish S60 games on N-Gage.
It's stupid that Java titles get ported to N-Gage, but Symbian titles don't. It makes no sense. Why is Brain Challenge on N-Gage but (for example) K-Rally isn't?

You should say that GOOD Symbian titles don't get ported to N-Gage, but crappier ones do get ported. The entire Gameloft lineup is made up of Java and Symbian ports. Asphalt 3, Asphalt 4, Prince of Persia, Real Football 2009 were all released as "HD" Symbian games by Gameloft. EA has also started this nasty practice. Spore Origins has been already released as a Symbian game. However, it's better than Gameloft's games.
BTW, has anyone noticed that though we criticize the lack of good 3D titles of N-Gage, the IMGA's 3D-winning titles keep coming to N-Gage?
2006 winner - Mega Monsters
2007 winner - One
In 2008, Real Racing has a real chance to win, and it has a real chance to be published in N-Gage. Also, Kodo Evolved is another game nominated in the 3D category and it's developed by Jadestone. Who knows, it can come to N-Gage.
Note: I am definitely not against of using hardware acceleration on N-Gage games, and am not trying to defend mediocre graphics in some of the games. This was just an observation. I will actually like some good hardware accelerated games to come for my N95 8GB.
I personally voted for Mega Monsters. No 3rd party title seems to be interesting enough for me. Gameloft, EA, and others will churn out same thing over and again. And I don't like Worms, so, I voted for the coolest game to come in 2009. Thrash!!
I'm a bit puzzled as to what Nokia's stance actually is on 3D chips, and did an article about it some time ago:
On the one hand Nokia has developed 3D accelerated demos and included 3D chips on some models, but on the other they've left out the 3D chips on the latest models.
It sounds like people inside the company can't make up their mind about this issue. There are good arguments on both sides of the 3d chip debate, which are explored in the link above.
I think it's very strange that all the Symbian phones from Sony Ericsson and Samsung in the past 2 years or so, have OpenGL ES 3D hardware.
While Nokia had OpenGL ES 3D hardware, but then stopped with it, and they are the one with the gaming service.
And it seems like the N96 platform infact does have some sort of 3D hardware capabilities, but that it's not compatible with OpenGL ES so the Symbian can't use it. How useless isn't that?
It makes me wonder if there's some kind of legal dispute behind this. Is Nokia trying to get the 3D hardware manufacturers to reduce their licence fees?
It's just so odd they'd include the hardware on the N93, N95, E90, N82 and then suddenly drop it.
I want it support N93i first.....don't care about 3D chip now....😞
I'm waiting for WWP and Prince Of Persia Zero in N-Gage 2.0. WWP are the best RPG same as like in N-Gage 1.0
