my 2c...

as a developer i would like to develop for symbian 60 using python. i would have to learn the language from scratch and the documentation supplied with python for s60 is not even viewable on the device. seriously wtf? i can't view the pdf on the device. the best time for me to learn is while on bus for 4 hours a day. that i can't bring readable documentation with me is the main thing holding me back. don't suggest a printout my bag is overburdened as it is.

i would like to buy more apps but i don't have a credit card (anti terrorism laws in ireland made getting an account more and more difficult so now quite a high percentage don't have bank accounts). i can buy a cheap app from vodafone for 5 of credit. why can't i buy the latest version of quickoffice (very good app!) the same way? because i would!

android on nokia? would love to see it! would definitely buy. would still carry symbian phone though as i feel it is currently much stronger.

ability to run older versions of nokia software on symbian. everytime nokia do an update they change/remove some feature that somebody used and loved. _it doesn't encourage loyalty_. the ability to use older software from previous symbian devices would help towards that. for me the search app on e61i was way better than current one on e71.

at the moment i carry an e71, e61i, ipod classic and a netbook. use the e61i to display information such as manuals/notes when working on e71. bought an iphone (569) at christmas so that i could eliminate the e61i and ipod. knew of most of the limitations of the iphone going in but after 13 days went back to e61i and ipod. if the e71 was a better media player i could eliminate the ipod but at the moment the 8gb limitation is too small plus the non standard headphone jack. tried watching my shows on it yesterday and it was jerky and ate battery life faster than anything i have ever seen. a 20 minute show reduced battery by 1/3!

will still try and get a n97 when it's released.

Nokia in the US I guess have a bit more chance there than Japan and we know how that turned out.

As I type this on my E71, I'm waiting to be able to take advantage of two major firmware updates that are still unavailable to a large portion of U.S. consumers. One of the aforementioned updates has been available to European E71 owners since mid-November. Based on their utter lack of basic support, it's clear that the U.S. market is an afterthought to the Fins.
