Yes,
this is a scenario that you are more than likely going to find.
I'm in my 40's and wear glasses for close up work such as reading etc.
I keep a pair at home & a pair at work as I don't want to carry them with me as I WILL break them! Problem is that the text on my E71 is TOO BLOODY SMALL
If I get a text (SMS) or want to send one when I'm out & about without my glasses - I can't!!!
I have had a look on the forum & elsewhere & can't find an answer anywhere. I had a Palm Treo previously with which you could alter the text size.
Is there a way to increase the text size or some software to buy?
Apart from this I must admit to being pleased with the phone but would appreciate some help.
Lets face it, you'll all probably want an answer one day!
Thanks
Skro
On my E71 if I go to Tools > Settings> General > Personalisation > Display I get the option to change the font size. Does that help?
Thanks for the reply - tried that, it only changes the font size on the menu display.
I'll keep looking
Skro
....well it will read the text to you, but I don't think you can dictate an answer (as yet!) Half a solution?

Hi Skro
I am visualy impaired and i am not too familiar with the E71 but understand your problem very well.
I have an E51 and i use nuance zooms for about the last 7-8 month which for me works fantastic, also with zooms you can also get another app called talks that reads pretty much anything on the phone to you, but from memory this is much more expensive and i have not used it myself as i personaly hate things talking at me. Zooms is not too expensive and has not caused any performance issue with other functions of the phone at all. see link below for more info
http://www.nuance.com/zooms/
I have also heard good thing about Psiloc Font Magnifier which is cheaper than zooms but the feature set of zooms suit me better. but see link for more info

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info.
I tried Nuance & it didn't list the E71 so have emailed them to see if it will work.
I tried the Psiloc and it does indeed increase all text EXCEPT SMS text! Unbelievable, thought I was there!
I'll keep looking.

I dont think that they are very good at keeping the list of compatible phones upto date :icon13:.
But i would be reasonably sure it will work on the E71. but best to wait for their response.
Zooms does definately magnify the SMS's, I dont think that there is anything on the phone that it does not magnify.

I thought you can let the phone read the messages for you? The german user manual describes that on page 55, have not tried it yet but will certainly....
This is not a 'fix' to the problem. Just a thought to keep in the back of your mind.
When I am caught without my glasses and REALLY need to read something, I use the old 'pinhole camera' trick.
By looking through a pinhole in a piece of paper held a few cm from the eye, it brings even the teeniest type into clear focus. You have to get the distance right between the text and your hand, and your hand and your eye, but once you crack it, the result is jaw-dropping.
Dunno how, but it does. (If you MUST know, Google pin-hole camera).
So, when I am really stuck, I curl my index finger around tightly on itself (Trap it under your thumb) to leave a tiny light-space in the joint and peer through that. Voila! Text is legible.
Is there anything cool or dignified about peering through a peep-hole in your hand? Nope. You look like a twit.
But at LEAST you can read the menu in the restaurant, or tell the shampoo from the conditioner in the shower, or read a text on an E71!
Lol.
There is a software "Fullscreen Message" ,which shows incoming msgs with big font,You can have a look:
