ISkoot on 5800?

Hi,
Does anyone know whether or not ISkoot works on the 5800?

I know there's no S60V5 specific version yet but has anyone tried the S60V3 version?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm on the 3 network and I get free Skype calls using 3's own version of ISkoot (obviously for S60V3) and since 3 aren't going to be getting the 5800, they aren't likely to release a new version of this software.

I'm really hoping that it does work because I would like to replace my N95 8GB with a nice new 5800 but I really do make use of the free Skype on 3!

Cheers,
Stooby

I have not used a symbian version of the software as i have a sony erricson g502 on a 9 pound a month deal. I used this version of iskoot on my phone

and it works fine (I am on the 3 network). I have not tried calling out to other numbers as I dont have any skype credit but I imagine it works.

Why dont you just download it and try for yourself?

Hi

I bought some skype credit to test for you, however even though with the full software the option to call phones anywhere is available, when trying to call a local number it comes up with an error "you can only call phones abroad."

I guess Iskoot locked down the phone somehow

Pete, thanks for your help. I downloaded the version from your first post and installed it on my N95 8GB and it works up to a point.
Whenever I try to make a skype to skype call, it just seems to hang and I end up killing the application. Can you confirm that you can make skype to skype calls on your 5800 (and also that it's using the '3' (i.e. free) phone number to do it?

I went to a Carphone Warehouse branch near me this afternoon to get a 5800 on the O2 PAYG deal, but they denied that it was available on PAYG at all, so I'll try the other branch near me tomorrow and see if they can help!

BTW, 3 don't allow skype out calls to UK phone numbers, it will only work for overseas numbers.

Thanks again,

Stuart

I've noticed that 3 Australia are actually doing the Nokia 5800XM and they are advertising Skype to Skype calls are free, so I'm taking there must be a Skype for 3 app for it.

If only I knew someone in Australia with a 5800XM and on 3 who could kindly send the file to all of us?
