Alarm and email issues

Picked up a v11 Nokia 5800 yesterday as couldn't resist the temptation. I'm having a couple of issues though that I've not found mentioned elsewhere.

First is the alarm, I had it set to go off this morning and snoozed it then stopped it on the next go however the phone crashed and needed the battery out to reset it. When it booted back up the alarm went off again and I hit stop only to crash the phone once more. On the third attempt I tried hitting any button none of which seemed to initially work however around half a minute later the phone finally responded going into the menu. The alarm went off again in another few minutes and this time I was able to stop it. Has anyone else had similar issues with the alarm clock?

I'm not having much luck with the builtin mail client, it is working but initially I set it to auto-retrieve but this killed the phone - it tried to download the entire mailbox and basically died at around 2,000 mails. Unfortunately you can't set a limit for downloading mail when in auto-retrieve mode, I changed it to auto-notify instead and limited it to 50 mails which works better but unlike the auto-retrieve mode it doesn't seem to auto-connect the mailbox when the phone is powered up nor when it drops out of reception. Anyone managed to get the builtin client working well with imap? I realise there are some third party clients but I just simply want the phone to let me know when a new mail comes in and be able to read it, I'm not bothered about having a complete local mailstore.

Quite impressed with the phone otherwise though, would appreciate any thoughts on these two niggles.

Yes, I've had similar issues. In my case, after removing the battery and re-starting the phone prompts to set the date and time, then the alarm went off. However, I now find that my workday alarm does not work although it did work prior to the phone crashing. I've deleted the alarm and created a new one but it still does not go off. If I set an alarm to go off in, say, 15 minutes, it works. Also a new repeating alarm set for Sundays works (at least the first time, won't know if it repeats until next Sunday) but the workday alarm does not.

Anyone got any suggestions on this one?

I havent had any alarm issues, mines working fine.

However, I have the same problem for email. I haven't tried auto notify, just auto retrieve and my 3000 emails seemed to kill the phone. Though in actual fact it just made it unusable while in the mailbox, telling it to exit resulted in it coming back to normal (after it took 2 mins exiting).

I deleted the mailbox after that, was only trying it for someone. That was on V20 by the way, so it needs to be fixed in the next one.

No reason why it shouldnt handle 3000 odd emails, after all it's only the headers.

Ok, here it go to you as well.
I've been looking around for the exact same issue with my red TUBE. I even contacted nokia care with well explained description, but unfortunately their simple 2 line reply was just "turn off the automatic update of time setting and if that doesn't help please send it to repair".

I have repeated alarm for all 7 days a week, but some days it alarms some days it doesn't. I don't know what makes it to alarm some days and not to alarm most of the days.

anyway, it might be my last Nokia.
