We-Fi, the free software networking system that helps you find free and open Wi-Fi hotspots, has now been sanctioned by Nokia and is included in many device's Download! catalogs. We-Fi's a great idea - if it doesn't appear in your S60 phone's Download! then you can also grab it from here. It's also available for Window Mobile, Windows and Mac, by the way, and it's truly international. Can you get involved and help expand We-Fi's hotspot knowledge in your area?

Steve,
all I found from We Fi was it just slowed me down in actually getting connected. No big shakes but it 'got in the way' of using the embedded Nokia connection methods i.e. scanning for wireless from the standby screen. I guess it might help in more of a roaming wpa storing way but most of the hotspots are free.
Wish they could find a way for people to start spotting these free wifi spots, and then integrate them continously to the Nokia Maps PoIs... that could create a movement! 😃
i follow the link (using s60) to download it, but can't for the life of me find a place to download it. Could someone post a direct link?

Interesting idea... could it perhaps be done as a third party add-on which sits on top of Nokia Maps?
Sites like Fon and Wippies are trying to promote their hotspot networks, so it would make sense for them to develop such an add-on app.
Awesome piece of software, makes login on so easy. Dont have to think about it, it just finds the strongest signal and connects. Doesnt stop you from using the original app and is built in to existing UI, love it.
Im guessing it feeds back to a database to map out locations, just need to integrate this into google maps and Wardriving is back!!
and Wardriving is back!!
...or you could just use HSPA. 😊
Pretty much every area that is likely to have wi-fi is also likely to be in HSPA coverage.
