Hi all,
I tried to check for firmware updates today, and NSU told me I had to update my NSU version which I duly did (now 1.4.98.en). Now it just tells me it can't find a connected phone, despite that it is happily USB connected via ovi suite and will sync, transfer files etc.
I was already hacked off that I was (with an early UK red) not able to legitimately get f/w v20, now it seems I can't do anything at all. I am starting to hate that I switched from Microsoft smartphone to Nokia. Pah.
I really like the bl**dy thing, but it's really causing me some grief...

yes I had this issue too. It cant recognise the USB for some reason.... in the end I had to update using another laptop....
did you update or uninstall and reinstall?
Personally, I recommend with that the NSU or other firmware meddlers that you uninstall completely and then reinstall.
Just an update (for anyone here with the same problem I had) on how I fixed this.
1. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the Nokia software from the PC as suggested. No benefit at all.
2. Tried other PCs but the flaming NSU s/w won't run on less than Win XP SP2 - pah, what's wrong with good old W2K eh? It's good enough for the extremely high tech company where I work!
3. I tried moving the USB cable to different physical ports around my PC. I read somewhere on another forum that some motherboards have some USB ports that are effectively "primary", and others that although they are also on the mobo, are actually effectively seen as a hub. I never had this problem with the previous version of NSU - in fact I even used it over a real external hub. But maybe the new version is more choosy, sensitive etc.
Anyway, eventually, just by plugging the cable into a different hole I was able to get my v20 upgrade.
Woo hoo!
