Nokia says "almost one million" users have registered on next gen N-Gage

According to an article on Reuters, Nokia says close to one million users have registered on the new N-Gage platform, up from 400,000 last October. October was of course the month that the first compatible phones started to be sold with the N-Gage client pre-installed, which implies that pre-installing the client is essential to getting people to use the service. Even more compatible pre-installed models should be appearing over the next few months, starting with the E75.

Certainly good news. They should make creating a profile even simple (e.g. having it as a simple "tick the box" option when creating the Ovi account/profile).

So far I am disappointed there is not more news from the conference in SF coming out.. hope there will be more before it ends.

Has Nokia revealed any other numbers and stats figures?
E.g., it has been said that Hooked On was the best-selling title for 2008. Have they mentioned any numbers?

Ewan's there, but I haven't heard any figures from him, so I'm guessing not.

We could speculate of course, but it's very difficult because the platform has grown from zero to one million in the past year, with most of that growth in the last few months.

On the Ovi side of things, my understanding is that the N-Gage Arena usernames will eventually be entirely replaced by Ovi accounts. You wouldn't even have to tick any boxes, because Nokia's services would all use the same user database.

Regarding news, it is very strange. There were noises about announcements coming today, and there was an "announcements" chat on the Arena forum a few hours ago, but they didn't actually announce anything in it.
