Not true - I have been successfully playing back iPlayer files, downloaded from the BBC iPlayer web site for the last few days.
Never tried it on the old firmware - but it definitely works on the new firmware.
Just use internet explorer or firefox to go to the BBC iplayer web page and use the "download for portable player" option to download the file.
You need to make sure you have the licence before transferring to phone - i.e. I download using firefox, then double click the file to open it in Windows Media Player - this downloads the required licence. I think this step is not needed if using internet explorer - but if you have problems try opening it in media player before copying to Nokia 5800.
You can now copy the file onto the Nokia 5800, and playback. Works perfectly!
