I thought I would be getting a red or blue phone when I went to orange the other day to upgrade my phone but instead I got I would say a gray phone.
Now don't get me wrong I wont be taking it back to complain or anything I just thought the phone only came in red or blue?
Consider yourself lucky - lot's of people out there would give their right nut for a 'Black'.
Look after it!!!
Really? Sweet. I thought I might have had a dodgey phone or something for a second haha.
Are these a bit rare then or what?
Also am trying to update my phone software but it says the server is not configured and that it doesnt respond.
I have checked the config of the server profile and it is on Orange and details are all filled in. why wont it connect?
I got one too, i was looking at them for a bit, i think it was red on orange website, then one day i saw black and silver option too so i snaffled one up str8 away. looks alot niceer than the red, and quite a lot better than the blue. more subtle.
ota update didn't work for me other day either.
also the quickstart leaflet that came with phone from orange mentions and shows a picture of oranges custom homescreen, with what looks like clickable icons on the left of the screen, my phone hasn't got this and it is not available under home screen them menu
Do you think it is an Orange thing then this black and silver thing?
I much prefer it but I was looking forward to having the red one.
I am not great technically with phones I know how to do the simple things so am not sure if am trying to do the update right or not.
Do I get the update on the phone or do I have to download it and upload it from PC to my phone?
not sure mate, i'm a noob on this phone, and symbian also
my software version is V 11.0.009
software version date 25-01-2009
custom version 11.0.008.325.01
custom version date 13-02-2009
type rm-356
and when u scroll to last line it says latest update - not updated
when i try and do it ota it fails, havnt tried it via pc yet as am so far undecided if i am going to use old nokia pc suite from my old phone, or use the new ovi thing, don't want to update itthru one, then decide i want to use the other for syncs etc. incase there is a conflict
Yeah thats the same as mine with the details.
I am downloading Nokia Software update but I dont know if when I connect it and try to do it from the PC if it will work.
Do you know of any good apps I can get? I want an MSN type chat app so I can chat to the lady when am at work but E-Buddy is pants.
my phone came with an IM app on it, don't know how to set it up tho, it asks to set up a server and needs a web address???????
phonetorch, use flash as torch
opera mini, if u want a different browser, i prefer the standard one though
paintpad, does what it says on the tin
if tou use facebook, i found going to m.facebook.com works better than using the facebook app/ shortcut built into the phone., also can use iphone.facebook.com, but i don;t like this as like the built in app/link, rather than opening links on a new page it kinda slides to the new page, but has no back option which i find a bit awkward
i have found that GPS drains the battery big stylee, i have only played around with it, and it kills the battery
I have found out you need to download software downloader from the Nokia website and do it through pc suite so in the process of doing that.
Yeah I saw the IM app but dont know how to work it.
What GPS do you use I have the plan from Orange that lets you on the net for free as for the battery I have a car charger so am ok for battery.
Is the Nokia maps ok or should I look for something else
not sure, i have only played around with posistion, not turn by turn directions, havn't got round to using the trial yet. it is a subscription service but cant remember how much it is, about 6 per month i think.
i found out from this ite you can by garmin software from carphonewarehouse for about 16 all in, all maps etc are on the memory card, but the software is locked to the card wich is a bit rubbish cos it only comes on a small card.
im not too fussed as i have a tomtom one, but might get the garmin, just as a spare, just means carrying the garmin card seperate as i like to have alot of music on the phone, the 8gig card that came with it only has about 900mb left on it now
apparently an app called "fring" is good for messaging, might not be though, just what i read somewhere

I got this app and it is awesome so much better than EBuddy that I had on my LG phone.
