i have gone thru the forum and am getting confused.
i am setting up mail on my 5800.
i was using a pop3 account, but have now created a google mail account as it has imap, which from what i have read works best
i have it set to check every half hour, which from what i understand is just to reconnect as it will sit idle for up to half hour and pick up the messages.
Do i need to leave the mail app running in the background, thus leaving the connection open(have it set to default, so uses wlan, then 3g if no prefered wlans), and will this eat up battery life and bandwidth?? when i close the app it says "do i want close the connection" and then doesn't get the mail instantly
i read another guide that says set it to check every 5 minutes, but then also read this is bad as it puts strain on the server?
im not a heavy user really, and don't need instant email, but would be nice if i can use it without eating up battery and data.
if this does eat up battery and data i can switch back to my pop account and and set it to retrieve only a couple of times a day.
is there a big difference in battery and data usage between the 2 options
also, the pop mail i use is @btinternet, comes with my broadband, does any 1 know if this supports imap and the settings. i have searched all over and can't find anything so i assume it doesn't work but would like to be told it does as i got a better email address with them
