HOW TO CHOSE A MP3 FILE IN MY AUDIO AS A RINGTONE?

Don't think the P800 supports MP3 as ring tone natively, but you can convert your MP3 to WAV, just lose some weight by dropping some of that frequency and, I don't think you'll need anything more than 30 seconds for a ring tone. 😉

Try to encode the file with the gsm codec. This works with 7650, don't know with others... The only bad thing is that it must be downgraded from stereo to mono, but it's quality is better than mp3. At 44khz it has a bitrate of 64kbps while at 22khz 32kbps...

What is that gsm codec you refer to? I personally converted an MP3 to Wave then choose about 30sec from it and saved it to file as .au format using Cool Edit Pro. That crunched a 30 sec stereo audio file clip form 3.2 meg to 1.8 meg. Set it up as a voice ringer and works perfect. But i'm curious as to what gms codec you mentioned.

Yeah, I�m using a compression format for my ring tones; I�m using the �IMA ADPCM� .wav format with the following attributes: 22.050 kHz, 4 bit, Mono (10kb/sec)
Thanks to MemphisX for discovering different formats of .Wav files are compatible. Now all my ring tones are 30-60 sec�s long and 300-700kb with no real loss of sound. A truly remarkable discovery which everyone should use to free up more space.

I have put a few of my ring tones as examples on there ( I know there a bit big for ring tones, but I sometimes listen to them as well!)

I make my ringtones now as follows take any converter and make a wav file, and then use windows audio recorder (delivered with any windows op sys.) to covert to format GSM 6.10 and 22050,mono, 4kb/sek or 44100,mono 8kb/sek.

This works great with good sound and less memory usage.
