Google Maps for Symbian on S60 (3rd and 5th Edition) has received a minor update to version 3.0.1.4 (from 3.0.0.x). The most notable update is a UI change to the context 'pop-up' menu (when you press in the D-pad). It has been restyled to math the application's other dialog elements. The menu now also includes the name of the location in question, at the top of the menu. Read on for screenshots and further information.

Credit has to go to Twitter for this one. I think a couple of people have mentioned it.
Minor update and not completely sure I like it to be honest.
New splash screen? And yeah, graphics look ugly. Not that google maps looked anything but ugly on S60 anyway
Just upgraded to GMaps 3.0.1.4 on my N85. When it tries to load get the Network Unavailable error. It gives you the option to Change Connection but when you click it it just brings back the Network Unavailable error screen again.
This happened in the GMaps 3.0.1.2 version too except the error screen was different. Anyone else have this problem. I LOVE GMaps and can't live without it.

Best improvement for me is no asking for connection when starting up on N96 (guessing also on other FP2-phones (on FP2-phones a "set"-connection appears to be a problem)).
Best POI-navigation e.g. for assisting better navigation (e.g. Route 66), because you can save "favorites", which you can use in Route 66.
saulhc - its working fine on my N85
Bick17 - yes the connection dialog improvements are nice. Depends how you have it set up whether you see it or not.
On my N78 i cannot enter the program. I have only 2 options for connecting to internet "Internet and Multimedia msg." but none of these two are my connections to real internet. I cannot use wi-fi or my native mobile internet connection trough wap. So what's to do in this case ?
Tried several times to install on 5800 Xpressmusic - halfway through installation message "Expired Certificate" appears then exits installation.
does the backlight go out on this version?

Common problem on 5800s with many apps. Have you got latest firmware V20?
The solution involves using the *#7370# reset. With the memory card out, wipes out your phone settings so back everything up first.

Rafe - On FP2 you can not set a connection but only a connection-group (Internet or Wap).
This version and the new English Widsets-version (the tranlated ones still have problems (I am dutch for instance)) fixes this. All old apps had problems with this; application kept asking for choices.
People who had found a way around this (probably by setting one connection in a group) now probably do not have a connection. I am guessing the guy on the N85.
You can work around this by altering the connections in the group or -for people who have installed devicescape (like me) and can not modify the group- by renewing your connections and naming them differently and choosing those as "set connection".
You can still change connection while using the application.
The auto update in the background does not work in this version, but why, before exiting i am giving yes...but it does not update auto in the background, We cant even see any symbol that the app is running which used to show in the previous version. Can anyone help ? I am using it on E71 and nokia 5320
