I'm eyballing an A-DATA 16Gb MiicroSDHC card over at Newegg and realizing that, being very new to Nokia, the 5800 and Symbian, that there is a real gap in my knowledge about what I actually do when I get a new card.
On the 8Gb card the 5800 came with there's a fairly rich file structure with a lot of stuff that was already there when I got it. What happens when I put in a balnk new card? Is there a formating proceedure that puts the folder structure and files the 5800 needs there?
Can someone explain this to me?
I just copied the old card to the new one (on a PC) and plugged it in and everything worked.
The easiest way is to just manually copy things over. I would suggest doing this via a PC and USB adaptor.
However if you just stick the new card in the phone it will work just fine. The folders etc. would be created automatically.

Yeah, ok, that makes sense. Sometimes I'm so busy trying to figure out how to do something, I ignore the obvious. 🙄

Thanks. I was hoping this would be true, also.
Cheers.

You may be forced to format the memory card.
If you know the manufacturer (e.g. Sandisk) you could ask if there is a password reset process - but I doubt it as this would allow anyone to bypass security.
