Hot off the press is Nokia's new E52, with video embedded below. The E52 can be thought of as an update to the popular E51, with S60 3rd Edition FP2, GPS, 3.2 megapixel camera, Ovi, Nokia Messaging, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB charging and more.

Yeah, but I didn't think there was any point in saying that because noone's even handled the mythical E55.... 8-)

Looks lovely 😊 Hopefully it will reach Sweden since E55 won't.

Although I do wish it was a bit thicker so a better camera and xenon flash would fit, hopefully we will see a relatively small candybar device with that in the N-series in a not too distant future. N82 is getting old.

looks like a nice phone!

Not sure why it has taken so long since say the n95 to produce this phone?

I wonder what the SARS rating will be on this phone - the last slim candy bar e-series phone has a very high rating.

Been waiting for the E55 to get launched for 4 months now this! No question, much prefer a standard keypad but now looks like I'll have to wait until the end of the year to get my hands on this one. Don't know whether to go *GRRR* or *SOB*. Why do Nokia always have to give such massive lead times between announcing a new phone and actually launching it? To me it just means people keep putting off their purchase as whilst they're waiting for one phone to be launched, in the meantime they announce another one's on the way (6 months down the line of course).

I suspect I'll be getting this to go with my new iphone if the camera is ok

It'll take them both to replace my N95.

This device has the potential to be a huge hit not only with the corporate sector but across the mainstream market. Like the rest of the e series its build quality and robust feature set should guarantee success. There are many like me, I imagine, who simply could not get on with the kexpad on the otherwise appealing E71 and the E52 is an ideal alternative. As a very happy E51 owner I am sure this device will prove a solid option. It also shows that e and n series are gradually converging.

Is there enough demand to justify the existence of both the E52 and the E55? Or will the E55 be silently dropped?

'LED flash...that'll keep Steve happy. He's not happy when he doesn't have anything to moan about 😉'

Yeah, the Pin Ball Wizard is having his new house lit exclusively using the latest in Xenon technology, his daughter has been renamed Xenona etc.

We love you really Steve.

The design looks gorgeous.

On the video at 0:42, what is that beside the 3.5mm jack? A 1200-ish flash light or something?

What is that "ADVANCED FIXED FOCUS CAMERA???" thing???? Much better than Autofocus???

May be same as the "3RD GEN POWER LED" thing in N86???? Proved MUCH Much better than Xenon, right??? 😉

I am sorry... Sarcasm is like breathing to me...

Nokia E52-1, Firmware: v.034.001

So here's the thing - I began to install apps on my E52-1. Install them on the memory card and they still take away some memory from the 56MB or so of memory that the pfone starts off with. I was left with less than 10MB of memory after a few week's usage - that's not great. Getting 'low memory' messages on a phone in this day and age is just ridiculous, esp. when there is only one app or so running. So I wanted to see where it went. I hard reset my phone and started installing:

These apps install directly on internal memory without prompting otherwise.

update psiloc world traveller: another 3MB on the internal memory ("other files"😉
update quickoffice to v.6.2: 8MB of memory taken up! ("other files"😉
update Ovi maps to v.3.04: 13MB of internal memory (mostly "SIS files"😉
Escarpod took about 800KB if I remember correctly. Another 8 or so apps installed on the memory card took up about 3MB of internal memory also (Fring: 300KB).

So I'm left with 28MB before I restore my contacts, email and notes etc. I haven't installed the updates from the Softvvare Update such as MS exchange and python etc. Nor maps. If all the 'officially sanctioned' updates insist on being installed on the internal memory, how long can we receive updated for. Or put another way, does this determine the life of the product? No one with this phone wants to be using outdated maps, office app, PDF viewer but these are all taking up precious memory space!!
