With the new updated UIQ version, will we be able to upgrade our P800's or is this something for a new range of phones by SE? Would love to see some "skins" for the P800...anybody?

I am quite sure that se will change the uiq version through a newer firmware upgrade. Besides the phone is brand new, and sure they want to be more competitive. We have seen what they have done with t68 (free upgrade to t68i,with a load of new features). And they are not going to produce a similar phone to this like nokia have done with 7650, and stop supporting it. That's why i love (sony-)ericsson, although i have a 7650.
agree with that but what scares me about SE is that they will make a p800i after a few months from the first release :-? ....but of course they can fix it wiht a small "bring your old phone and pay a small fee for i version" thing can be nice 8)

Yeah, but the upgrade will be free if your phone is under warranty.
While the only option I have with my 7650 and the missing futures it has is to sell it and buy an ugly 3650 :evil:

they say that this new version will be offered to current p800 owners in april and they suggest that the phone might even be uppgradeble at home by downloading install files from internet.
Can someone have this page translated? 😊 Ive been hearing a lot of rumours that future upgrades will allow us to upgrade the unit by ourselves already. These are rumours come from technicians that work for SE authorize dealer hear.

As far as I know they were talking about the firmware Upgrade R2D, which obviously did NOT include the new UIQ interface, so the where WRONG...
But maybe sometime in the distant future...
I think mobil.se was misinformed.
Anyway - according to this post in a MobilityWorld forum, SonyEricsson is not planning to make any newer versions of Symbian or UIQ available for the P800 as of yet. 😞

UIQ 2.1 has support for themes (skins), but if we will get it on our P800s is a completely different question.
