Built in Email Facility on Orange

I have been trying to access my emails through the included mailbox system on the 7650 and am having no luck. I have tried it with two accounts which i know to be working with correct servers login etc etc, but each time I try to collect emails it says that there is a general error, and if i try to send one it puts it in a queue.

My phone is (trying to) use Orange GPRS, which after a long batlle with dippy support staff (5 phone calls to customer support!) has been enabled and is working on the phone as far as i can tell. This has only been tested as far as browsing WAP and sending MMS messages which up till then had also not worked.

I have read that the included software is not the best, but thought that it should work and the manual does say that it will access any POP3 account (it is a standard BT Openworld account btw).

If anyone else has had trouble or knows what i may be doing wrong please share your ideas, im really stuck on this one!

Matt

ps is anyone else on the Orange Access Plan jobby, apparently its free for 3 months and gives you 10meg GPRS data transfer a month, and is just 4/month after that (but i've possibly missed the catch 😃 )

The access pack only covers GPRS WAp. You will need GPRS Internet to download your Orange mail. It is charged seperately.

this is possibly why im not getting anywhere with it then

in that case i may endeveour to find a way of using a WAP webmail service to check emails, as then it will be free 😃

sorry to ask a silly question but this is my first phone with GPRS and im still learning!

Matt,

Try this link,

http://www.orange.co.uk/mobileemail/personal/configurator/phone_only_01.html

I used it to set up my email with it.

Actually I had the same problems with orange and not having gprs switched on even after being asked many times...
Eventually they did it and I got my 10mb access pack added to my account... stupidly thinking that my 4.00 would cover my limited gprs sending and receiving of emails..

Imaging my surprise when I got a bill for 9.57...how could this be? I paid for my 10mb of gprs which everyone at orange assured me would cover all my gprs usage!

Well actually it was a bit of a lie.

The orange access pack only covers wap usage over gprs. Anything else like picking up + sending email and browsing html using web viewer is charged at a premium rate on top of the access pack price - thus rendering the access pack totally useless and a waste of money (for me anyway)

I've since discovered (after finally finding someone not entirely brain dead in the call centre) that they do a 2mb unlimited usage gprs pack for 4.00 so you can surf + mail happily -till you hit the 2mb limit then they skin you alive!

Still you live and learn

Why no access your email using dial up numbers from your isp, if you go to the nokia site it will send you a configiration message to do this in the set up my phone section or you can do it manually. at least it works without gprs
