This may sound like a stupid question but I was just wondering whether secure digital mmc's are compatible with the 9210i as they are the onlu mmc's I can find that are 128mb
MMC's
SD won't work. You'll have to use mmc. Don't let the sales persons fool you!
SD hardware can use mmc but not the other way around.
So yes the max is 128mb
Thanks very much for that Dazler. I live in Tonga and cannot purchase memory cards here at all so I have to order them from O/S. My fiance bought a SD MMC in NZ for me today and was about to send it over tomorrow if I did not see your message. NZ$300 spared. So she will return it and get me a 64mb MMC as she can't seem to find a 128mb one there at all 😞. So cheers anyway for the advice it saved me much hassle.
yeah can't find a 128mb either :s Only the 64mb seem to be for sale here. ...
some sales person sold me a SD before ensuring me that it would work .. lucky me I got my money back 😃
Oh well, I learned something from it so it wasn't that bad 😉
Only MMC will work in 9210i's, but i'm not buying any for a while as i've heard that bigger cards are comin out sooon! 256MB+ WOWOWOW
First I've seen about 256MB MMC being a reality - I wait with baited breath. For those who find 128 MB enough, you could try:
www.crucial.com/uk/store/listmodule.asp?module=MultiMediaCard&Attrib=Package&cat=
Current price is GBP 44.64 inc. UK VAT.
I think I read that they will ship abroad - don't know about costs, but MMC doesn't weigh much. I have used them several times in the UK with no problems.
WOWOWOWOW
that is CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEAP! 😃
I paid about 155 about 6 months ago for my 128MMC's.

That's exactly what happened with me. My fiance said she went to the electronics store and the sales assistant VOWED to her that SD will work in the 9210i and any MMC hardware!!! Just as well I saw your post she has taken it back and is send over a couple of 64mb MMC's instead of the incompatible 128mb one.
Cheers
Don't buy 64mb MMC have 128mb mmc there much better and convenient! 😮

You have double space at half the price!
Couldn't of said it better myself, those rip off merchants at nokia are still selling a 64mb MMC for 100! 😮 😮
I finally got my MMC's and USB Multicard reader/writer and all I can say is OUTSTANDING!! I also got a serial-USB converter just for synching and so my IR, storage space and RAM headaches have gone in one fell swoop.
Chuffed!!
Now all I need is to find an online store that ships to my country so I can purchase the P800!! 😉

The USB to serial adaptor was from Dick Smith Electronics which as you know is Australian so you can get one there. Mine was from NZ for NZ$57 so I'd say about AUD$50. My fiance could only find 64mb Kodak MMC's in NZ which cost NZ$77. My 128mb MMC I had to order from crucial.com for US$59.99 so you're about the same. Any news one when a 256mb or heaven forbid a 512mb MMC might come into production?

Sorry I forgot to thank you for the recommendation. Received my 128mb MMC's from Crucial at the great price of US$59.99 within 4 days (all the way here to Tonga. It usually takes weeks for things to get here) which was great. So cheers.
No sweat - its good to see another happy camper !
Does anyone else experience this? My 128mb MMC only registers in my phone and on my PC (via the card reader/writer) as being 122mb and my 64mb MMC as only being 60mb. Is this because I format them with the PC and not the phone? Please don't tell me this is another of my ignorant questions with a blatantly obvious answer. :-?
I am no expert, but I think it is the formatting. I get the same when the cards are formatted on 9210i.

Yes I experience this all of my MMC's, :-? I've formatted them many times but it makes no difference, I guess we've been  RIPPED OFF  when we think that we've brought a 128mb MMC when its only122mb!
Never heard of this...Weird!
got the same problem also...
after formatting my MMC registers 122MB. hmmm... what happened to the remaining 6MB.... :-?

tried it, it works, the MMC USB Reader is for faster transferring of files only, making it more efficient in essence, without MMC USB Reader, you can transfer files to your phone from the PC only through the data cable or infrared port of your PC. I suggest you buy a reader for faster transfer if you're planning on buying MMCs... 😃

The 128 MB means 128.000 bytes...not 128 Mb.
Since there are 1.048 bytes in one Mb, you end up with 128.000 / 1.048 = 122 Mb.
Problem is the difference between MB and Mb...
I didn't know that... 😮ops:
Don't blush,
I only figured it out not to long ago as well... 😃
Whoops, that was me, forgot to log in... sorry. 😃
Its a post less 😉
Damn. 😮
