I got my new HBH-60 unit today... 😃 I purchased one a couple weeks ago which somehow had a broken tip during shipment. Anywho, I got another order in today and I can't find the coolest feature which sets this headset apart from all other bluetooth headset in the market to-date. The Magic Word option... Apparently, this headset allows one to use the Magic Word feature which was never capable with the older sets or other headsets in the market.. I started out with the HBH-15 with my T68 then moved on with the HBH-30 with my P800.. Now that i've got the HBH-60 I don't think I can touch my other headsets.. This thing rocks.. Tiny and sleek design catches your eye right away. The ear piece isn't as bulky as the HBH-30 which supposedly added the extra weight due to extended battery life. It fits snug around my face, but only comes down to my cheek bone. I'm going to give SE a holla about this Magic Word feature which isn't spelled out in the manual.. I'll give a full report on this by the week's end..
My New HBH-60 headset...
Apparently the HBH-60 does not support the Magic Word feature as stated in a few reviews months ago.. I chatted with an SE support rep and he couldn't find anything to support this claim.. Kinda dissapointed, but happy with the quality and size of the headset nonetheless...
Magic word on a bluetooth handsfree would be a bad idea anyways, the standby time on the phone would drop dramaticly...
Magic word itself uses a lot power (remember my t68 status would drop to half the battery time with MW enabled)
The idle Bluetooth connection the phone has with the handsfree when it's not in use, doesn't use much power, but using mw with it would force it to have a active connection between the phone and the hbh-60.
The standby time for the phone and the bluetooth handsfree wouldbe useless

That's true, though I'd mainly be using the headset in the car (it's illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving over here other than with hands free) in which case it would be on the car charger, so at least to have it as an option would be nice.
I had the chance to really challenge this headset yesterday.. I Used it for about 4 hours of talk time straight... The little button started flashing green to red which indicated power was low. However, I was able to talk for about 45min after that indicator was blinking. I hung up the phone so I don't know how much longer the headset could have lasted past that conversation. This trial included making several calls which all of it used the voice command feature to make outbound calls. I even have the phone set up to speak the users name in the headset. That's a great feature that didn't exist in my T68. When a call comes in I hear my recorded voice of the contact that is calling me through the headset first. Then about 2 seconds later the phone begins to ring and the voice in my headset is muted/cut off automatically. Really cool feature when driving in a car and not having to pick up the handset to screen the call.. For some reason I did not noticed this feature with my HBH-30. I only used the HBH-30 for a few days with the P800, but I can't remember if I had speak caller name feature enabled at the time. I will test it out to verify. Nonetheless, if it doesn't work its another good reason to move up to the HBH-60.
I tried to use my HBH-60 in my car and I was surprised on how much it picks the noise. With my previous headsets I've never heard anyone complaining that they can't hear what I'm saying because of the car noise. Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

Personally, I have been using the Bluespoon headset - anyone else? It has great talk/standby time and sound quality is excellent!
😞
I have one, used it a week... great size, battery life, sound quality for me... but if I used it anywhere but a quiet room, the people I call can't hear me... went back the the HBH-30.
Interesting...I have had no such issues with mine...have you had it checked for quality problems?

I was going to do the same... Do you think that hbh-30 is better regarding noise level?

Absolutely... I use the bhb-30 in the car, on the street (not a very noisy one, but it's possilble), and I don't have to yell to have the callers hear/understand me. Too bad, the BlueSpoon size/concept is fantastic.

I tested the Bluespoon for a week, and had the stated problems with noise. Furthermore, the tones indicating on/off (higher/lower tones) didn't work, so I retuned the set.
The -60 is a bit better on noise cancellation then the -30. Less white noise. But moreover, I noticed it picks up the voice commands much easier in a semi-noisy environment.
Owing largely to the fact that I couldn't get hold of the Nokia bluetooth headset to go with my 6310i I bought the HBH-60. I love it cos it's so light and so easy to use, but I've had a couple of problems. Sony-Ericsson say they can't help me cos I'm not using one of their phones - perhaps someone here can. Problem one - occasionally I've deafened people on the other end with a very high pitched sound, rather like feedback from an electric guitar too close to an amp. Problem two - it sometimes simply cuts out when I'm in the middle of a conversation (very embarrassing as my phone is my primary business tool). There's no warning beep, it's not that the battery is flat as when reconnected it's fine again.
Like I said - I love it, but would also love suggestions to solve these problems or at least explanations!
Thanks!
Reeney
It sounds like an isolated issue.. Being that I own and have used all of SE's BT headset models those problems don't ring a bell even in previous models. I kinda seems like a phone to headset compatibility issue. To think of the headset not working with the phone you might try to think of it the other way around. Give Nokia a call and get some feedback to how their phones normally communicate with the headsets.. It definately seems like a frequency issue. Maybe a firmware update on your phone may eliminate the problems.
I had a HBH-60 but it was faulty and the E-shop didn't have any replacements in stock so I bought the Jabra BT-200 which is superb IMHO.

I have the same setup 6310 and HBH-60 and after about an hour the phine and headset just disconnect, there is plenty of life left both batteries, it may well be a firmware issue on the phone anyone got any ideas as to asolution.
thanks

I have had this also, generally in the middle of a conversation.
Hanging up and redialling seems to solve the problem.
I suspect that it is to do with the noise cancelling circuit in the headset getting confused.

Bigfeat, you seem to be getting much battery life from your HBH-60. Mine lasts less than a week on a full charge and VERY limited usage, without voice dialling, etc. In fact, my first unit went bust after 2 months and I had to have it replaced. I agree its sleek, and voice quality is no problem at all. But I'm not at all impressed with the battery life.
On another note, looking at all the grievances on this forum, one wonders why manufacturers are not able to standardise quality on all units. We seem to be producing marvelous products, and yet each unit seems to come with its own unique characteristics (problems or otherwise). Is so much variation in electronic components justified? Just musing!!!
HBH-60 or HBH-35(saw it on SE website US section)?? which is better? i hav to make quick decision.
to add more excitement, you should look at the jabra bt200, it looks really nice
its good but i have range problems they say its 10m but i feel its just 2.5m and it also has problems when your cell phone is in a bag or a case

I must admit, I haven't had any of those problems with mine. Granted, the range isn't the full ten meters, but I get a good eight meters, six through walls.

I've been using one since March and, apart from the fact that it went bust in 2-3 months and I had to have it replaced under warranty, I've found the sound quality to be quite good. I'm able to get around 5-6 meters indoors as well, haven't stretched the range outdoors. Having said that, I manage to five to six meters provided I'm in the same room or within open range of the phone. If I turn corners, its probably 5 meters or under. which is a bit disappointing considering this works on RF and not infrared.
