That was released 2 weeks ago for unbranded UK phones. 😊

No it wasn't :icon13: I have an unbranded phone and can't update past version 10.
Has it been released now though? I checked this morning over the air and it said I was up to date
I'd beg to disagree, there is an extensive thread elsewhere about UK people changing product codes to force this update, I wasn't prepared to go down this route.
I've been checking using fota and updater regularly, and even checked on the Nokia website by manually entering the product code and the first time I was able to 'legitimately' update was early today.
Product code 0585162

lies..... :con?
Latest available software for Nokia N97, product code 0585162
Version: 10.0.012
Compare numbers
If this version is greater than your current software version, update now to get the latest features, applications and improvements. Go to Nokia Software Updater download

Can't comment on the fota update, but using Nokia updater on my PC found and updated the phone.
No further comment to make - it worked for me, N97 Black/0585162 now at V11 using updater.
Congrats UK N97 brothers
Great news. So how do i go about updating my white simfree uk n97?

Cheers matey! It could have been the time that I tried (was when I first woke up and the girlfriend was pottering around). I've left the bloody thing in the car as well so can't even try now!
Anyone else been succesful on a black sim free? I will definitely have to get this installed later as I am beginning to get bored of a phone this buggy!
Still, would rather wait 2weeks than brick (or risk bricking) my phone!

install pc/ovi suite, connect via usb, click on the options tab and click on updater

My mistake.
When you stated UK unbranded I assumed you meant the generic Euro1 code (0570817) and not 0585162: N97 UK CV B.
anyone else getting the download failed message using NSU?
i'm assuming its because every man and his dog with a N97 is trying to update right now, overloading the Nokia servers...........
downloading update now for black sim free no probs so far:icon14:
Great! Will update soon and feed back with any issues 😊
No update showing for my UK simfree N97 handset. Neither NSU, or OTA showing V11 😞
half way through the update the phone kept getting disconnected it told me to pull the battery out and hold the power button for 1 second😮 it did this twice. im using vista, i hope it doesnt do this for all future updates:con?
I think i will wait for V11 to be avilable OTA, which is much safer.
My N97 is a Vodafone phone, but with my O2 sim in it, Software updater says it's not available still 😞

I use Vista (32 bit Home Premium) too, it just worked seamlessly end to end, all settings and data were maintained over the upgrade too (which really surprised me!)
good luck to all.

Yeah, this is for UK unbranded phones - I suspect the Vodaphone update will come later.
Well, I've done mine. No drama at all, and I didn't even have to restore from backup afterwards. The phone just booted up and looks just like before the update.
Lets hope it's more stable now.
One thing which I hoped would be fixed was it not showing some photos that I took before a previous hard reset. This has not been fixed. The Captured section shows snaps taken after the reset, and the download section shows photos from my N95 plus some snaps I took on the N97 when I first got it but there are still some photos missing (which I can only access through files explorer).
Oh well, not a biggie really.
The phone feels snappier but the video bug is still there, when you try to resume a video you have watched, you just get a black screen but you can still here the sound, you have to skip forword to get the picture to display:frown:

Is it easy to unbrand it? I read about bricking it and it scares the hell out of me, hehe. Or should i just be good and wait for voda to release?

Thanks to OP

Yup, using PC Suite 7.1.30.9 (which incidentally was updated late last week)

Yes, you need NSS (Nemasis Service Suite) which simply enables you to change the code of the phone to a UK code, so the software updater thinks you have an unbranded phone. It will then allow you to install the generic update, and your phone will then be free of any network rubbish in the OS.
If this is wrong, please somenoe correct me, I'm just going on how I unbranded my N95 and wifes phone.
it seems my problem was actually my internet connection. once i reset it i was able to update without any problems, very impressed
n97 is much faster 😊
Hi i have a Voda branded UK version of the N97
RM-505 ( what is this ?)
Software Version - 10.0.012
Custom version - 10.0.012.213.02 (what is this the Voda FW layed over the top...as this is also dated 4 days after the date of the main software version ? )
Hi, can someone tell me what the differences between the software on Voda branded and nokia generic FW, i mean what functionality is altered or disabled etc etc on the Voda FW ?
Thanks.
also: the reason why i get the voda branded version of the handset is because i know someone at vodafone who gets the fones rather cheap, I`m not on a contract with anyone ATM.
Hi Guys,
I found this guide online http://nokia.nigelcoldwell.co.uk/firmware.htm
It's working so far, have unbranded it, now downloading the update! 😃
Edit - Scratch that, it's bricked. Now I have to figure out how to undo it!
