As I type I am downloading and updating my N97 to v12.0.024
product code 0576402
Cheers
v12.0.024 Available
it's showing on mine, asking to do it via pc suite..
pc suite is veeeeeeery slow connecting to nokia... must be busy...
will those of us with uk handsets (unbranded) have to wait longer or is this for everyone?
is there a change log anywhere?!?!
very excited
well it won't run OTA. Nokia Ovi suite says no updates available...
Downloading from nokia.com/softwareupdate instead... 12.0.024 is available!
*eek*
Bet it doesn't fix my lens though 😞

you never know..........
Please post changes ASAP, Thanks.
Well it seems that auto rotate doesn't work any more.
even if i open the keyboard... gonna try a restart and maybe a reset...
edit: reboot fixed it.
C'mon Dave...
Tell us what they've improved and what they've managed to b*ll*cks up!
lol. gotta go out and do some stuff...
if i notice anything i'll shout...
transitions seem smoother...
A bit more free RAM at boot for me, everything seems a little faster and more responsive, no new features I can see - this is probably the stability / bug fix update, hopefully an update with new functionality will be available in Sept.
Just done my update. Went smoothly enough and everything back to how it was. Seem to have about 10mb of more RAM at start-up, a tad faster operation, maybe. Not sure I can see anything else. Hopefully more stable this time round.
No kinetic scrolling on contacts!!
Ho Hum, got to wait with baited breath another couple of months for the next update!
Let's see if we can put a stop to the enevitable posting that always accompanies the news of a firmware update... and that is something along the lines of...
"Why is there no update showing for my phone?"
Firmware is usually released for "unbranded" handsets first. That is handsets that have generic firmware as opposed to firmware that has been mucked about by operators.
In the usual course of events, the various operators approve/amend this firmware and it is normally released 2 weeks or months later, depending on the operator.
If you are unsure if there is an update for your particular handset you can check on-line here:-
You can download the Nokia Software Updater from here:-
http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/device-software-update
Hope this helps!

Never had a problem with mine. Seems ok to me.

Depends what you have installed / running I guess. The point is that no matter what you had before, you will get more with v12...

Actually I now have only 51mb free at start up so 4 less than on v11
Also c drive space has gone done from 53.6mb to 50.2mb
I can tell you what isn't new in this firmware
No Maps 3.0
No Quickoffice 6.0
No Sip/Internet Tel
No Skype
in fact I can't find anything worthwhile at all

Looks like you are the unlucky one! I'm consistently getting about 8Mb more free, I have the SEVEN email client running at startup.
It could just be my imagination, but I think the web browser allows me to move around the page a bit sooner (i.e. before the page is "100%" loaded). Time will tell if it falls in a heap as often as under v11.
Can't get it via PC update on 0587240 model
😞
Ditto - no update yet for UK vodafone

It's just like the N95; going from v11 to v12 was a bug fix update. When there is major new functionality (Skype, Kinetic menu scrolling, etc) it will be be a big jump in version number i.e. v2x.
We can keep our fingers crossed that the next update will be a biggie with new functionality - Skype was mentioned as being added in Q3.
I can't find any updates for my phone, and Im based in the UK with a plain old N97 unbranded! Where's everyone based that has the new firmware?

I have a UK SIM-free N97 but I changed my product code to the Euro version for v11. I think the SIM free UK firmware still needs to be customised/tested by Nokia UK, so you may wait anywhere from a few days to a few weeks until it's available, which, to use the vernacular, sucks.
But it could be worse, at least you aren't on Three or some network that takes forever or skips the updates all together!
OK having previously bricked my N97 Vodafone device by changing the device code and flashing I thought that this time the upgrade to V12 would be smoother...
...well it was kind of. I got the flashing white screen of death BUT this time I was able to recover by doing the 'four button salute'.
Slider does appear to be fixed - it's the first thing I noticed.... but I've only been playing for 5 mins...
Hope this helps someone.

This explains why I can't see the update. Got an unbranded UK N97. I haven't bothered changing the product code.
