The Evolution of the Nokia N95

"Interesting how you prove the point that was offered earlier about internet users having a silly number of user names and passwords to remember and are unwilling to gain yet another for the sake of a comment about phones."

I hardly proved a point. On that basis, let's scrap registration for all websites to make life easier...

"In the end it's just another web forum on a fairly unimportant subject so the whole discussion seems a bit silly to me. The unregistered people do offer an opportunity for the supercilious and sanctimonious to get on their high horse about something, and there is no shortage of web folk ready to do that.

Life goes on, I'm sure most of us have real matters to deal with."

It depends how you define real matters. If this is so unimportant to you, why bother commenting?

And anyway, it's not whether it's important or not. Debatably, nothign on the internet is that "important", so why bother reading anything at all? People come here to read about mobile phones, but are constantly faced with pathetic drivel posted by unregistered posters. Sure, you can register before making pointless or offensive remarks, but let's face it, only the diehard d*ckhead can be bothered doing that, so why not make life a bit more pleasant for those who actually enjoy reading what's posted here by making it harder for these types of comments to appear. It's a small price to pay...

The N95 is simply the best phone i have ever owned. The original variant is in my personal opinion superior, for the aforementioned sd card slot and lens cover. I love it so much I have a n95 8gb on standby as a backup just in case the original flavour one ever conks out. Ive been swayed by the other phones, come close to upgrading, but when you look at it there really is nothing on the market that does anything better than the all conquering n95.

That's a straw man argument if ever there was one.

Why not? It's just a comment. No big deal really. What's the problem?

Just read what you want to read an ignore what you don't want to read. Take a chill pill, relax. It's no big deal.

Actually.. the only REAL successor I see to the N95 is ironically not a Nokia but the Samsung Innov8. Its the only thing that has taken the base N95 technology and added more (ie. hardware acceleration etc + better camera and more functionality including 16GB onboard+ MicroSD).

As a former P910i, current E90 user, I have one question; is there any real advantage to a dual-slider design? Obviously the mechanics of it are more complicated, which could lead to mechanical failures, but do the advantages of the design outweigh any particular downsides?

No-one ever said it was big deal, dude.

Agree - this is a classic device but it took almost a year to get FW to support all the functions, such as HSDPA. I almost returned the device in the first week because it was so unstable. Nokia needs to better ensure that its go-to-market strategy includes support, or that it makes a limited hardware release for beta testers so that the obvious bugs can get sorted before a mass release. The networks flogging this stuff to unsophisticated / non-adventurous / not early adopters are also responsible!

Buster - I find the top slider on my N95 to be a waste of time since I use the d-pad to move to the next song or whatever. Don't know about others though ...

I own a Nokia N86 and am very happy with it. Just like Buster I don't see the reason to have a dual slider mechanism.

I am the guy who started the fetichist thread.
I am not hiding behind anonymity, if you want i can post here my email/skype/phone number and we talk about what u like, nothing to hide on my side or lock me in a registered room.

i simply stated in a rather provocative way that Nokia is short of ideas and the same old soup of N9x or E6x phones are really boring to talk about.

Real Innovation ideas are far away from Nokia who sit down to cash as much as they could from their old stuff they made. The same did SonyE... They will all end up like Motorola (soon I hope).

Thanks god there are some new players coming from time to time to shake the market.
New ideas do not need to follow the established track and Nokia has got a sound lesson from Apple/Android in the Smartphone market. And the best has yet to come.

No problem if u want to have registered comments, but this is a narrow-minded approach.... this is what i meant when i was talking about FETCHISTs!!!!

As far as there are no bad words or insults, why do yo bother on provocative comments?
Maybe I said something true that hurt you in these posts.... ah ok... i see... 😊
Maybe u r not able to give facts and answers...
