Maybe I missed it in the forum lists, but.....where is the Sony Ericsson Satio?
It's a Symbian S60 v5 isn't it? Or is this a Nokia-only forum?
I've had enough of the N97 bugs and I think that's where my money is going when I get back home to U.K.

It's not out yet, and looks like it will another month or so. I was trying to find reviews of this phone a couple of weeks ago when I was fed up with the N97. The 'experts' reckon it will be out in the lead up to Christmas.

Although it has all the bells and whistles - what do you think of it's looks? I think it looks a bit too square , rather boxy? It's not the shiniest button in the box, is it?

I, at first, was very enthusiastic about the Satio but as time goes by and more information is released I find that my enthusiasm is dwindling.

It's 12MP camera looks impressive but the phone lacks stereo speakers. It has 128MB of phone memory, 256MB of RAM, but no Mass Memory, only a, "microSD (TransFlash), up to 32GB, 8GB included". It also does not sport the new micro USB.

All-in-all, this is not a phone, apart from the camera, that would tempt me away from the N97. However, I will be watching the Nokia N900 and the Satio closely.

I like the look of the Satio.....but really I'm not after a fashion statement, I just want a good working phone, with functions that actually function as advertised!
(I still use my E90 when the N97 wears me down.)
Looking at threads on Esato, seems like some folks in U.K. already got their hands on it.
Looking forward to some lively discussion and opinions here on AAS....got 2 more weeks before I get back to U.K. and cough up the cash for one, unless you can persuade me otherwise!

THe back of it looks little bulky. I'd like to see it in the flesh so to speak, just wondering when it's out in Saudi - the N97 was here in the Nokia shops before it was out in UK - and of course, how much its gonna be, but have been thinking about the Samsung i8910 instead.

Well, it is out in the UK, so I stand corrected by my earlier comment of it being out later in the year.

It's on play.com sim free for 499.99, which was the same price as the N97 when that was first released.

However, there is no 3.5mm jack, which for me is a big no no. I have to use the smaller 'in ear' headphones, as the standard will not fit into my ear holes, so the phone MUST have the 3.5mm.

Might look again at the Samsung i8910, but then the software releases are not as <ahem> "efficient" as Nokia.

Third option is to see what v20 brings. Could well be a stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Some revious SonyEricsson phones had an adapter that would plug into a socket on the phone and allow the use of standard headphones with a 3.5mm jack. I'm sure they'd do the same for this one... or maybe the old one would still work, if SE have stuck to the same sort of connectors.

I'll add support for the Satio shortly. In fact a SE specific S60 forum would be useful I think 😊

Satio coverage coming soon - probably going to have to buy a handset as the PR for SE aren't being very responsive. Oh well - its not like it would make sense to engage with the biggest Symbian site on the web...

Thinking about it, my last SE - K750 - came with it's own set of 'in ear' phones, which suited my lug holes perfectly. All is not lost, might have a look at the 'sales package' and see exactly the type of head / ear phones that come with it.

Don't really want to go down the route of adaptors, it just adds little fiddly bits to the phone.
