Nokia N97 Line 2 (ALS)

I bought this phone thinking that the Line 2 will work (considering that mos Nokia phones I had worked).

When it came right of the box it never worked. So I did go ahead and change the product codes with that of Orange UK. This enabled it and it was working great. Then I put the original product code back. However, I was having problems phone freezing when answering a call (after finger swipe on screen) and the line would stay open. Had to reboot to get it back.

I noticed there was an update from v11 to v12 so I was stupid enough not to read about the possibility of loosing the ALS feature upon update and ran the NSU. When rebooted the ALS was gone. Now the second number only shows under contacts > SIM numbers, and if you make a call to line 2 you get the busy signal (as with original software).

Now, I did contact Nokia Tech support before the update and after but they never helped about it...telling me to send the phone to Nokia Service Center, but of course this phone is not released in Canada yet (until next year) and I would have to send it to the designated Nokia Service Center of the product code and I was told that Return address has to be from the product code region as well. But of course, I don't have anyone in USA or Asia lol

Anyone have an idea how to go about forcing to install a specific firmware version? Or knows a way to enable ALS feature on this phone through software? There has to be some kind of config file that will enable it upon update or something.

I so much would want to go back to the Orange UK one with problem than not having my Line 2 as I use it for business.

So, let me get this right, you have updated to V12 using your original product code?

If so, have you changed it back to the Orange code and tried updating to their V12 F/W? Although, Orange sometimes can be very slow at releasing updates, so you may just have to wait for them to approve V12.

Nokia do produce generic product codes with ALS support..... just the problem is finding out what they are🙄

I have N97 Unbranded with ALS line 2 N97
Product code 0585162 but current SW is only V12
Its a Generic UK sim Free from Carphone warehouse
You could change your product code to this model with nemasis
then run updater from Nokia
I know this works as I have lost line 2 using the Euro 1 product code as ALS is not eneabled on that

Mind V20 is ont on this model number yet so If you are on V20 you will not be able to reinstall V12

I have not yet found another product code with V20 and Line 2

let me know if you restore als by another meansd as I can they change to Euro 1 update to V20 and reinstate ALS Cheers

Product code 0585162 ver. 21.0.045 does not support second line (LINE2).

I have one more Code to try, but can not downgrade firmware.

Can somebody try this Product Code: 0587375 ... it is ver.20.0.0.19

Here is another product code, wich supports ALS (LINE2):

Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Turkish

Latest ver.: 21.0.045

Switch option is in: Menu, Settings, Calling, Call, Line in use (LINE1 or LINE2)
