experienced it in one of my widgets, for fav contacts. seems to be across the board, im still on v12

Thank god someone else is having this problem too! I thought there was something wrong with my phone! I guess the makers of Facebook have made changes to the backend of the site that's changed how statuses are retrieved.

Since I updated to v20, I can't upload photo's off my phone onto my FB. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the FB app, but it still don't work.
Can anyone help?

hahaha.. someone with same issue as me. My little daughter was born yesterday but could not upload except the pic I took withim the app itself. sucks!!

I was looking into this problem tonight (no, I haven't found a solution for it) and I found something interesting.

V20 is meant to bring a new version of Facebook to our N97s, but we've found if we upgrade from earlier firmwares, many of the extra widgets that we're promised don't appear. From what I can tell, these only come with vanilla phones. I knew that my Facebook widget before updating was v1.0.3808 and, as mentioned above, this didn't change when I upgraded to the v20 firmware. So, I went looking for a new version.

davecozens' freeware site has v1.0.3808. If you download Facebook for "S60 Touch phones" (this is in the description) from the Ovi Store, this is also v1.0.3808. However, Facebook for the "5800 Express Music" (again, in the description) on the Ovi Store is v1.0.4667! It looks the same as the old one, and is also fully compatible with the N97's homescreen, but it seems a little more stable.

Is this the version that's meant to come with v20 or have I stumbled across a newer version?

BTW to check your current version of the Facebook widget, tap the Facebook logo at the top of the screen.

I updated to V20 yesterday and got no Facebook app at all - and I have a vanilla phone.

Just downloaded v1.0.3808 from OVI but didn;t know about the 5800 later version, so thanks for the tip off, I'll try it. 😊

But, from what I understand, there still isn't any 'notification' support which makes the app pretty pointless IMO.

I think they've pulled most of the active widgets - certainly none of the promised new ones seemed to materialise and no one seems to have FB one working and I've seen many instances of Accuweather no longer working. Think either still problems with connectivity or in the new V2.0 memory mapping they are aware the hardware can't support active widgets and run other stuff and are quietly killing them off. My phone is still being reapaired (3 weeks and counting, tried to collect it yesterday but pointed out flashing to V20 prob wasn't going to fix a scratched camera lense 🙄 ) so can't verify. But can abyone else confirm/deny if active widgets are being pulled?

It was on the Ovi Store. use the client on your phone and search for Facebook. I think it was the 2nd one on the list.

Sadly it doesn't fix the problem we're having (I mentioned this in my last post).

I thought I'd better chime in on my N97 Facebook experience...

So far it has been one application that has seemed to work fairly well--after I discovered its constraints...

1. If your N97 is logged into to FB....don't try to access on your PC, it will mess up the N97. It doesn't know enough to log you out, so you have to go to your own Profile page (in between the script error messages) and then access the Logout button. It's best to logout on the N97 first before using FB on the PC.

2. Accessing FB from your PC, turn off all of the game-type notifications...the N97 version doesn't seem to like these. Once I disabled these (I don't play the silly little games anyway), the News notifications for all my friends work well.

3. Use only the Camera button app in N97 FB to upload photos. For some reason, this works better/faster than simply trying to upload a photo from a file. Yesterday I uploaded a photo this way (after hearing other people here complain about problems after v20) and had no problem at all.

Now to the "a:O:{}" issue. I have experienced this when use the CLEAR comment feature from the N97 FB. This seems to have started a couple of weeks ago. I was curious if this was some new emoticon combination, but it appears to be just a tagging remnant from the N97 FB app. I'm wondering if maybe putting a one character comment (like a space or an exclamation point) might keep this from happening.

Are people still having an issue with this? I did a hard reset last week and just noticed that the facebook app is back to normal.

I just recently got my N97 back from Nokia care - took it in to get the GPS and lens issues sorted out.
Lo and behold there is the updated version of the Facebook app v1.0.5401!
It seems a lot more comprehensive than the old one, the galleries seem to work a lot better, no errors so far.
and also no "a {}-" updates either!

I dont know when this version will be available from the Ovi Store

Facebook - doesn't bear a version number, but the Facebook Installer does...it shows 1.00(3808).

If you are in the facebook app - when you touch the "Facebook" text in the middle top of the screen you get shown the version number.

Just downloaded an updated Facebook app from the Ovi Store - this one is now v1.0.6751.
When minimized on the home screen it looks a bit different.
Functionality seems to be increased

It seems slightly better, but still a million miles away from the iPhone application.

Seeing that Nokia and Facebook were making out to be best buddies at the conference earlier this year, it is shocking that we don't have anything comparable.
