Someone help me before i pull out all my hair!
I have just got this infa red device its a Bafo V6102F , I cannot get it to see my Phone, no matter what i do, I have tried numerous drivers, messing in the bios, cursing! Nothing works, I am running Windows XP,
I have been trying for at least 5 hours, its doing my head in, It has recognised it for about 3 seconds , then loses the connection,
I thought it was maybe a compatibility problem with xp, so i installed Windows 2000 and bingo it picked it up straight away, But it only lasted for a minute or so then lost it, and no matter what i did after that i could not get it to work again,
If anyone has any ideas at all I would really like to hear them,

Can't remember the settings off hand coz the IF is not with me, but basically switch it over to the sigmatel 4000 driver, give it a longer turn around time, and also transfer at a slower speed.

I have a Norton Ghost Backup of Windows XP, and everytime i restore it, and connect the Infa Red it works for around 1 minute then vanishes and no matter what i do i cant get it back again unless i restore Windows and try again, I tried your settings Keano but its still the same, I even installed Windows 2000 earlier that faired a little better , it lasted around 3 minutes and i even managed to get PC suite to see the Phone thats never happened in XP, But it lost its connection and i couldnt get it back again,
Anyone got any ideas i can try..?

I just got Nokia PC Suite in XP to see it, but just like it did in Windows 2000 it lost its connection, It said something like device moved out of range or blocked, Now I cant get it to connect again,
Anyone...??
Just had a thought, I have got a logitech cordless keyboard and mouse, Could these be interfering in any way..?
Anyone got any ideas before i have to send it back..?

If those are IR then the answer is definately yes.
Suggestion: get a BT 😃
It may be a driver issue of the infrared dongle. I have an irwave irda dongle and i can't make it work on windows 98/me. But it works great on 2k/xp. Maybe for you is the opposite way... I would recomment you to return it and buy a bluetooth dongle, but before that just make a search in this forum to find a compatible one. My gigabyte bt with the latest widcomm's drivers works like a charm...

No i don't recomment it. In order to connect the 7650 through a datacable you need a special tool to open it. And it is not compatible with the pc suite. Only for firmware upgrades.

There is a problem with the datacable that you have to dismantle the phone every time you want to connect it as the connector is inside the phone just below the camera. 😃
And besides who uses cables anymore, when it can be done with Bluetooth.
And with BT you can use bemused !!!! 😃

hey! i got the same problem like you .. try this!
1.my computer
2.hardware tab
3.infrared devices
4.advanced tabs
5.infrared transceiver type - set it to vishay 6101e
6.min.turn around time - set the value to 0.5 ms
7.speed enable - set the value to 115200
i hope this solves the problem, coz this solves mine .. my dobgle works properly for a win98se but after i installed a winxp pro problems happens, just try to play with the values, set it in a lower phase, good luck! 😃
Thanks for the advice nicoaintaplayah, Didnt work for me though, I have just tried it again and now its rambling about the infa red already being in use by another device, whenever i try to select it using Nokia PC Suite,
I dont think its ever gonna work on my system so I am gonna return it and get a refund,
Just checked...the settings in my PC are the same as that stated by nicoaintaplayah.
What I suggest is to set the speed lower than 115200. Has worked better for some.
try to play with the values, sure you'll get it in time, i spent ages before coming with the right one .. 😃

ok. when the 7650 hit the markets here in europe i bought it with bt adabter. ofcourse the pecker didnt work at all and all it did is messed up my win98se for good. so i tossed the bt and bought vscom-ir-adapter. After installing the deed i got it working. BUT WITH only mrouter running. If i tried to run it without mrouter it disconnected the phone in 3 to 10 secs intervals. And never ever ive managed to get the direct filetransfer in windows to work. It allways disconnects the damn phone. (bet me, ive tried it dozens of times).
Week ago my UPS device got mad for unsolved error and i had to uninstall the UPS drivers. It uses the other COM port so i uninstalled the IR too. After getting UPS back i installed that VSCOM adapter again with the same fucking results as readable from above. Direct filetransfer WONT WORK. NokiaShuite works after i launch the mrouter (yes it launches the mrouter itself too).
This time i had to drop the speed down to 52kb cause the 115kb wasnt working (disconnecting people). Now it works ok, but im really wondering what the fuck is wrong in direct-windows-ir-transfer??? *puzzled*
It would be kool to send files to my inbox thru ir but it seems to be impossible. I think when im formatting my win98se next time (soon) ill get a new bt-adapter since i know theyre getting much better nowadays than they did in 2002. If anyone really has any suitable clue to make the direct-ir-transfer to actually work (not disconnected) im willing to reward you with "a ton" of software to 7650.
