I solved my voice dialling problem. The trick is that you should speak out the party name after the second tone.
After you press the button on the headset, you hear a series of tones, then one clear tone, by this time the message 'speak after tone' is displayed. Now wait untill you hear another 'rough' tone and then
speak out the called party name.
voice dialling - HBH-30 w P800
If you take a look at your phone while it gives those beeps you will visually see when it asks you to speak the contacts name... Chances are you weren't looking at the phone during that time... That first beep is from the headset and the second from the phone, which I must re-iterate gives you a visual cue....
Bigfeat is correct, the first tone comes from the headset, what you have to listen for is the second tone which is the one sent by the phone 😊 After that you can speak the voice dial. Just before that second tone is a text that comes up on your phone telling you to speak the name after the tone.
Amir not looking at the phone serves the purpose of bluetooth headset. Why look at your phone when it's supposed to be stashed somewhere else while you're making a call.
But i guess he should have looked the first time that he was using the headset so he'll know what was going on between the headset & the phone
ja, i struggled a bit on this because these nitty grities were not documented properly. Besides the documentation on voice dialling is framented.
And one more thing, there is a definite delay after the message on the phone and the cue tone - users got confused with the first tone, because they were not looking at the phone.
the best part is the guy at SE service center was not able to demonstrate this feature to me. He failed as well. One even claimed it is not supported to do voice dialing from HBH-30.

Wah? Shame on that SE employee. But the manual that came with my HBH30 was very well documented though so I would disagree on the manual thing. It specifically told me how many beepsI would hear and when to say the words 😊
i'm still struggling with voice dial with my hbh 60, getting and making calls are alright. Just the voice dial having problem, only successfull a few times. I don't have problem with voice dial on phone. I dont know whether this is becos the short arm of the hbh 60 but its doesn't seem logical as i can taking/making call with no problem, the other parties can hear loud and clear. Any user of hbh 60 facing the same issues?
I really wanted to get a bluetooth headset myself. Last week i was about to get the HBH30 from SE. The SE personnel told me i better wait for the HBH60 because the 30 is not comfortable to use. This surely discouraged me coz i plan to use the headset for hours. Any feed back on this?
Ok, this is going to be quite a story so listen up.
I always wanted a bluetooth headset. I had the the SONY Clie NR70V(Palm OS) and the SE T68i. The great thing about this Sony "duo" no pun intended, is that they make the best team ever. All I lacked was a bluetooth headset and I could do almost everything. I could dial from my Clie(which can store thousands of number) and it will autmotaically forward the dialled number to my T68i Via bluetooth Memstick. With the BT headset I could then take the call from the headset making me appear phone free, all I had to do was leave the T68i in a place that had very good signal(I had very weak signal in my room, had to place the T68i hight above by the window which was very hard for me to reach evrytime the phone rand or I had a message)
So I decided to get the HBH-30. I had my brother in HK buy it for me. There were 2 places he could get it, at SE ot at this shope that sold it cheaper but had no warranty. I figured im already getting it in HK and I asked the SE service center here(SEMICON) if they would service my BT headset if I got from HK SE and they said "NO" So I decided to get the cheaper one anyway, what could possibly happen to a headset..so I thought...
When the headset arrived, I quickly unpacked it, it was open because my brother had asked the shop owner to test it. My brother confirmed that it was brand new and and when he got it, it still had plastic over it. I read the manual and charged it for about an hour. Everything was on the manual and looked very simple. When I tried it the first thing I notice was the sound wasnt that clear, alot of static and noice in the background and you could hear yourself speak in this bubbyly scratchy manner. At first I though it was just signal problem so I moved outoors for testing, it did improve but the bubbly the scratchy part was still there, but this was bearable, a minor trade-off so I didnt mind. I was very happy, I could now dial numbers thru my Clie and ansert in my HBH-30, voice dial thru my HBH-30, Text through my Clie via the ap called FunSMS from www.fun4palm. I could listen to Mp3s ony my clie. I had two 128 memsticks just for extra aps and the other for pure mp3s. I could also take pics on my clie and send it the T68i via buetooth or IR and then MMS it. It was amazing! I was very happy, I felt I could do everything.
One day, around 3 months after I boutgh the headst, I noticed that it wouldnt turn on. I never dropped it. It was always in my pocket or on my ear.. I tried bringing it to SE service center(Semicon) and told them I would pay for the repair but they wouldnt dare open it. So I decided to have my boys look at it (I have a I.T. Solutions store,we specialize in AMD powered solution based systems: www.arctech-pc.com) and when they were finally able to open it, along with a few snaps here and there which were the clips breaking , they saw that one very tiny wire which connected to the terminal of the battery charger was disconnected!!! :agrue: How would this happen? I never dropped it, never opened it, how could a wire inside get disconnected when in the first place it wouldnt even stretch...
Now my HBH-30 looks like frankenstein, :robot: , filled with plastic glue and rubber band just to hold the battery cap... snif.. I can still use it, well I use it when Im driving, and the sound is terribly scratchy.. but manageable. All the people I talk to ask me why the sound is like that and I jsut tell them I have either bad signal or I have a sore throat 😃
Im currently waiting for Jabrahs response on who their distributor is in the Philippines.. I really want to buy that BT headset or maybe I should just wait for a headset that can also pick up the MP3 from our P800, now that would just be amazingly perfect!!! Something I could get from treasure Island hehehehe 😊
Dont get the HBH-30... Get jabrah or something else... Check out the pics:
Frankenstein is an understatement.
@muzik - Anyway, i ordered the BT-200 over the net and it will be arriving shortly. Can't wait. Will update you and christomas on it's performance.
@Christomas - thought you already bought a bluetooth headset. Didn't push thru huh? HBH-60 is available at semicon for 10,000 +
Please do! 😊 Im really interested. I saw the review on TechTv and it is by so far one of the best bluetooth headsets available. What Im also interested in is the quality of the sound.. We will be waiting.. where did you order it? 😊
@Muzik - bought it at ebay from SHOPOEM. $60
* Are you Andrew?
Nope im the other one 😊
Sniff sniff. That was a sad story muzik. Thanks for the advice. Am really glad i didnt get the HBH30. Anyway, if its any consolation, SE Makati, I mean THE SE Service shop, not dealers like Semicon told me one thing which surprised me. They said during the time i dropped by their shop that their warranty for bluetooth headsets is good only for 3 months. They also said that the reason for this is coz bluetooth headses are disposable. I was really a shocker. I mean, with the cost of this thing, you just couldnt believe that if anything goes wrong with it, you simply have to throw it away! I dont know whats the deal with Semicon though. Semicon has a higher price than SE, but if they offer a much longer warranty period i think i might instead get it from them. Hey fonzki how much is the HBH60 with Semicon? 10 plus? Yong plus ang nakakatakot eh hehehe😊
pls see the size comparison of hbh 60 and jabra bt 200. I was thought that the jabra is smaller until i saw this
But my concern is the performance... Which sounds better, I think the Jabrah size is already ok once its on your eat it shouldnt be a bother.. The smaller it gets the more awkward I feel when talking because the mic is so far
Maybe ill drop by Semicon and check if they have a demo unit. I will keep you updated on this. Hey muzik its cool knowing youre also a gadget freak like me hehehe. Come to think of it, i guess most people in this forum are. Anyway i was kinda thinking of getting the new Clie myself. The NZ90 looks cool but damn expensive. Hows the prformance of the 70 series? Is that the one that comes with the OS5? I too want to pair it with my P800. I dont have any experience with Palm though. I did have one many years ago but i find it hard to use. Since then i have always used the Ipaqs
What I had was the NR70V 😊 It still had Palm OS 4.1 It was already a very good device, had almost everything (Except built in bluetooth 😞 ) The N790 is good but very bulky. And you cannot swivel the camera around anymore, though it is 2.0 MP already 😊 Im also thinking of getting another PDA later on if I dont see the aps that I need for the P800 till the end of the year. As of now everything is here except for the birthday application so I dont think I would want to get anothe PDA as of the moment because it would defeat the purpose of my change to the P800 which was to only have to bring one device rather that two.
If ever I do get another PDA it would most probably be a sony, and it must have built in bluetooth and memory of atleast 32mb. My purpose would be, ta have an Ebook reader, Word, powerpoint & excel editor, Bible, Dictionary.. and If ever I have contacts more than a thousand.
Unless I wil find all those for the P800 😊
I have a friend who's getting the Tungsten-W because he wants to have the ebook & the bible too. The programs you listed were his reservation in getting a P800. Since he's used to the Palm na raw
@Christomas - the 10,000 plus meant it didn't reach 11,000
Yah, Palm is really one of the best OS ever made.. Very small but useful aps... Simple softwares.. I just hope those aps I mentioned come out for the P800...
@ Muzikfreakah - You're a Christian?
Catholic 😊
Good. Wish i could have the bible on my P800 eventually. Don't own a PALM eh. (Evangelical)
Hey fonzki i am Evangelical too. Anyway which Semicon branch did you saw the HBH60/ cold them up this morning but was told they didnt have it
I ordered the HBH60
here is a comparission picture between the hbh60 and the Jabra BT300
Hey fonzki i am Evangelical too. Anyway which Semicon branch did you saw the HBH60/ cold them up this morning but was told they didnt have it
Saw it at Semicon Megamall last Sunday. They usually are the 1st among branches. Upgrades, phones, acc.
@ Brimme- Still think BT-200 is better. Behind the ear design. But i could be biased since that's what i ordered.
I think the bt200 looks like a hearing aid. I have tried the Bt300 on but it doesn't fits good and doens't looks good. so I decided to pai a bit more and go for a smaller device like the HBH60 wich realy wear good ad looks good.
Thanks for the info fonzki. So brimme any feedback on the HBH60? Is it comfortable? Can you wear it for hours? How about voice quality?
I stilll prefer the Jabrah. On the picture where Jabrah looked bigger, it was bigger only because it was made to fit comfortably behind the ear. It sort of made a place wherein your ear can lean backcomfortably and to prevent the headset from wobbling around.
