I thought of posting this because we all are probably bound to do this soon 😊
How do we do it? Is it as simple as copying everything to the new memstick? or do we have to reinstall all the aps? You see most of the aps are installed on the memstick, I try to keep my free space on the phone to about 4mb. Again the question is, do i have to uninstall everything and reinstall them when I get the new memstick to sort out the files? If I just copy everything will it work or will it have dead files on the phone without links? Will I have to reassign all my personalize ringtones and pics to all my contacts? Any had any experience migrating to 64mb yet?
Good question...
Id say it would probably best to uninstall all programs first.
man that would really suck if I had to do that, couldnt we just restore our backup to the enwmemory stick?
Talking about restores ... has anybody tried it?
I have a dozen or so backups, one of them from a "clean" system after a complete reset.
I can't restore any of them, not even after completely resetting the P800.
I have had 5 succesful restores 😊 4 of them were all for the sake of testing 😊 No problems at all 😊
If you wanted to copy everything on the card you will need a card reader. You can then copy the file structure into a folder on your desktop and then back to the other memory stick.
Tried doing a backup of my memory card but the phone wouldnt switch back on.

Ive done backuped then restored my memory card with no problebems at all. Did you restore it on the same size or different size mem card?
Not done this myself yet, but can't you just browse your P800 in explorer, copy the contents to your drive and then put them back when you have the new stick?
I can't try it at the moment my PC is in the office and I am on my (beautiful) Mac Powerbook 😊
Well I was thinking of that also but It mite not work because there was an installation process when we installed the aps to the memstick.. You see when I restored my phone and didnt restore my mensticks, the files were still in the memory stick, like handy day but when you go to your phone, you will not be able to uninstall them.. What I did was reinstall the ap so that I could cleanly uninstall it, and reinstalled it again. Where, did you get that?
I believe that you can backup your memory stick & then restore your backup to a bigger capacity memory stick with no problem.
I've done a full restore to another P800 and it looks exactly like my P800. So i assume that the restore to a memory stick will have a less likely problem
I guess thats our best bet fonzki 😊 Now we have to wait for the 128mb to test it with 😊
Don't you wanna try it out on the 64MB?
I guess a couple weeks of waiting for the 128MB would be better.
Is the 64 available in manila already? 😊 Diba there's this store, M something that sells all these gadgets and stuff? Is it available there? And the screen protector? 😊
Mobile One. Haven't been there lately. But i saw a screen protector at Games & Gadgets. There's probably one at SM Cebu. Didn't buy it though. Coz i bought a screen protector last January. Twas for a Palm handheld, and i just cut it out to fit my P800.
The screen protector available at Games & Gadgets is called Brando. They're selling it for P400. It's cheaper to cut out my own from a P100 screen protector. 8)
I've done the migration 1 month ago: very easy:
1. Backup your MS with the provided software
2. Insert the new MS
3. restore
4. Thats all, working very well
optionally there is another way to migrate:
use P800-File Manager from Epocware and just copy the hole D: Drive to your PC-Harddisk
OR (the fastest way)
use a USB-MS-Reader and copy the content to your pc-harddisk.
Cool! 😊 Atleast finally a suucess story! Cant wait to get my 128 duo..!
This is Muzikfreakah by the way, im at my gf's house 😊
I've moved everything successfully to a 64 meg mem stick through backup. That being said why not just use explorer to move your files around? I've done this with memory sticks for other pieces of technology including a sony digital camera, sony clie and sony voice recorder. Absolutely no problems. The key is to make sure you copy the whole file structure including hidden files etc.

Cool! Its off to games and gadgets I go tom am 😊
Went to Mobile 1 at Park Square Makati last Saturday. No memory stick Duo of any size available yet.
There was this infrared keyboard for a PDA though. Didn't try it out. If ever i wanted a keyboard, it would be a bluetooth one.
