Mobile Systems, far from being daunted by the Quickoffice juggernaut, have been plugging away at their competing OfficeSuite for S60 - the latest v5.30 can edit Google Documents directly, something of a breakthrough for the Symbian world. A hat tip to Wampyre here for both spotting the new version and doing a brief, illustrated write-up. Comments welcome if you're an OfficeSuite user and can add your recommendation.

Tried it, like it!
On the plus side -
1. Seems to be free upgrade for 5.0 users (hooray)
2. Works like magic - loving it so far! gdocs just appears as a third data source after phone c: and memory card
On the negative:
1. Seems to have lost its icon (now a generic Symbian jigsaw piece)
2. Seems to be no integrated way within the app to create a new gdoc (you can open an existing one and do "save-as" however), or to move docs between local storage and the gdoc cloud.
On balance - I'm impressed - a truly useful feature which on a few minutes playing with it seems like it's been well executed. Hopefully the missing ability to create/move docs will be added later.
Do you have to install in phone memory or you can install it in mass memory?
Thank you,
(Obviously a N97 user)

You can move docs to Google Docs. Once you are logged in withing the program, it will offer you this option when you select the file. I'll have to come back with details if someone doesn't beat me to it because I am at work in a no cell zone.

Yes, you can install in mass memory. 😊
Aaaaarrrgggh
Just bought Quickoffice and now really short on C: - obviously another N97 sufferer.
@Hooksym:
Yep - thanks - my bad!
I've dug around in the menus and it was "options->file->Upload to google"
The reason I failed to find when looking earlier was because it's not immediately visible in the file options menu, you have to scroll the menu down a bit to see the last two options.
That's sorted then for me - it really does all I need. Nice bit of software!
Glad you got it sorted. Took m two or three tries to realize it was there because f not scrolling far emough. 😃
