Block unwanted calls.How?

21 replies · 7,318 views · Started 19 March 2003

There is no in built function to block incomming calls to your phone from individual numbers, you can set the phone to only alert you to calls from a particular caller group in the profiles.

And as yet there is no application to do this.

Sorry.

Bob

Nokia should make a program anyway to block.Ericcson can do it by default. Now i am sorry i can not write a program...

How about making a user group of unwanted numbers and assigning a silent ringing tone for it?

How can i block unwanted incoming calls?

no 3rd party program yet to block incoming calls 😞
my local network provider let me block incoming calls (Call barring a phone number or numbers) but need to pay monthly charges!!
I wish developers will make this type of application.

SMSmachine is very useful application to me. The contacts that I do not want to answer (calls) is just receiving an SMS from me automatically with the help of SMSmachine  telling them "I'm unavailable" or "I'll call you back later" or "I need sleep!" or "What again?" or "I thought we're done?" 😉 but this is only for callers with mobile and with SMS subscription.

It should work like an answering machine, so that people that you don't want to call you will get a message like "The number called is not available anymore" or something like that.

I could do that with my Sony cmd-z5, but it was restricted to only 1 contact.
___________
And how to get a "not available"-message: call a non-existing number with the gsm and record the message you get.

Maybe an app that mute mic, respond at "bad" number , wait 3 sec, hang on call. 3 sec because bad number spend a bit more $. so a day or anoter day will finish $ .

app can answer before ringing tone which caller recieves. Sorry the number you have called cannot be reached at the moment, please try again later.... 😉

Good Call Ghostdog.

I've been using Blacklist for a little while now. It does exactly what you're after. Very worthwhile app.

blacklist is your solution: http://my-symbian.info/7650/applications/applications.php?fldAuto=425&faq=2

which settings do i use for this program? i have it, and in the second tab, there's blacklist and accep incoming unblocked ones

There is a cheap way for this.

I believe someone or me have ever post it b4.

Create a group in your contact list folder as BLACKLIST

Then add those pple you wish to blocked.

Finally in your profile, select Several groups.

thank youi was hope to block anonymous / private numbers though, do you know how i would create a group for these peeps withholding their numbers??

that's more difficult... I understand you'd have to block all numbers, then unblock the ones you'd like to respond to.

You know, if people bugging you is such a big issue, it may be easier to get another number off your operator (explain the problem, they may be quite accommodating). Then you need a "reverse blacklist" to send an sms to all your contacts telling them of your new number 😃

like create a group which includes all my phone book to be unblocked, BUT it would mean that someone who isn't witholding their number but is simply trying to reach me, wouldn't be able to ?

I don't think you can do that. A group is a bunch of contacts and there's no way to set a contact phone number to: ANY UNKNOWN PHONE #.

My tip will be, set a silence.wav (no sound) as GENERAL ringtone and then make a group for ALL the other contacts and set a ringtone for them.

Add all of your contacts in a group, and make sure to set the profile to alert only for the selected groups and not All.

There Is An Application Called Black List You Can Find On The Symbian Wap Site It Allows You To Block Any Unwanted Calls It Costs About $20

there is a file called blacklist in the symbian wap site downlaod it to your phone and it will block any calls you dont want without sending them to your mailbox
