Worse is they have been releasing firmware, but only to certain product codes. Official UK variant I got direct from Nokia (no operator branding, totally generic, straight off the factory line and sold on Nokia's online store)... no firmware updates since release! 😞
I think someone else also posted this, but just re-assert my findings:

The bottom links that specifies a build based on the E71 build is the build I'm using right now. Tested in NJ, one of the most dense road infrastructures in the US, on a 136 mile trip. Not a problem routing (very few re-calcs), extremely quick gps lock in open sky (20 sec in thunderstorms), and only few flicker screen problems, but navigation with street names works perfectly. and best of all, no RAM leaks. Just to prove it's not a technical issue, but of greed.

Yesterday Jan Ole Suhr listed his Phone Model Top 5 for Gravity (by sales).

Here they are with S60 version and month Nokia announced the phone (according to Forum Nokia).
1. Nokia E71 (S60 3.1 / June 2008)
2. Nokia N97 (5.0 / December 2008)
3. Nokia 5800 (5.0 / October 2008)
4. Nokia E72 (3.2 / June 2009)
5. Nokia N95 8GB (3.1 / August 2007)
60% of those are 3rd edition phones. Should Jan Ole also stop supporting all those old 3rd edition phones and insist his users buy another phone?
