Good to see some nice spec symbian phones. That F06-B looks killer, sliding AND touchscreen with awsome specs to boot!

Apparently the Japanese have the intelligence required to operate a real smartphone and don�t require an �app� for every stupid thing. Maybe Apples don�t go well with their sushi.....

That Marimekko design looks damn stylish.

Now if only Nokia could deliver some quality finnish design...

That is the worst design, IMO.

But still kudos to you for managing to sneak in an anti-Nokia comment in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do about them...

Damn.. would be nice if one could stick an European or US SIM into one of these babies (since they have GSM world roaming)! 😊

That HD waterproof variant could replace my 5230 and Panasonic waterproof in one go.

The catch could well be in the price - I wouldn't expect these to be cheap on a SIM-only basis.

Always known that Docomo had an interesting range of handsets, interesting that they appear to be so far ahead of what Nokia are producing.

Mmmmm, I used to work at NTT Europe, maybe I can ask some of my old colleagues if they can get hold of any Docomo phones ... they were looking at having a presence in the UK at one time a few years back.

I was in Japan last week and played around with a NTT Docomo Fujitsu phone a family member had. I was very surprised you cannot load pictures/songs into the phone, although you can offload pictures/sound/video. This seems like a major crippling and was wondering if these Symbian phones had the same limitations from NTT?

To be more specific, every time you take a picture for example on the phone, not only does it save the picture file in a picture folder, but it also adds an entry in a system file that's encrypted and cannot be easily edited by a text editor. If you add a picture from your computer to the phone's picture folder, the phone will not see it, it looks first at the system file which catalogues all the pictures.

Yeap, you can't send files over bluetooth to a DoCoMo phone and expect it to work. AFAIK, all DoCoMo phones do not support File Transfer on Bluetooth, except a past Sony product (SO-XXXX).
Other than that, all the phones in the lineup (other than the Androids in their lineup or the international Nokias in their lineup) do not support MP3 as a music format, WMA and another wierd format is supported though.

With ringtones, have a hard time converting them to the correct format, unless you buy ringtones from a Japan Store.

Even if you were able to get the phone, you'd be stuck with just calls and SMS. You can't reconfigure MMS, GPRS/3G APN settings.

Got a recent DoCoMo phone (they call it keitai) and am stuck with those barriers. Well, I knew about them beforehand but couldn't resist having one. Got a SoftBank model instead (another carrier in Japan) and reflashed the software so I could make full use of the phone's functions.

I think the Nokia N8 comes close to and is similar to the specs of current Japanese phones...
