Nokia's N8 Foosball viral video

Nokia have released their latest promotional video for the Nokia N8; it showcases the N8's video capture and HDMI-out play back functionality. Normally promotional videos don't justify a news story on their own, but in this case I think we can make an exception. The video shows a group playing foosball (table football) and performing some rather impressive skills and tricks - seeing is believing. View the video in the full story

Originally thought they used N8 to film it, until I saw those profession camcorders. What's the point of this ad then? :con?

Agreed, watching the Behind the scenes video kind of spoilt the fun, showing a large professional camera used, and not the N8 to film the viral video 😞

I don't think it's meant to look like a video shot on an N8. For one thing, you can see the N8 in the video. It'd be kind of hard for it to shoot footage of itself. It's meant to advertise the phone.

I guess you wouldn't get the super slow mo stuff looking so good either... I guess sometimes practicality trumps reality 😉

well, that's kinda lame, really. All people are getting to see is a wonderful, albeit scripted, foosball match. show us the N8's video shooting prowess instead and it will be better marketing.

I have been a Nokia/Symbian user since the good old 7650 (check when I joined this site and spare me the "Nokia hater" line). My recent experiences with the N97 and E72 have scarred me of Symbian completely. Silly of me you say? Perhaps. But it will take a lot for me to ever again consider Symbian.

If it wasn't for Maemo or Meego I would be done with Nokia right now.

Just my thoughts.

No matter what items are posted on AAS, there seems always to be people who find something to complain about it, and here I am getting dragged into it.

Such a magnet for such incredibly negative glass half empty people.

It's supposed to be a viral video. It's how Nike did cage matches a few years ago, showing off nothing but amazing football (soccer). The point isn't to tell the world about the N8, it's to make something cool enough that millions will want to see it.

IMO, it's cool, but not THAT cool.

@Arthur

same here man, been on the symbian bandwagon since the 7650. After my i8910, I'm definitely going Android. The only edge symbian seems to have anymore is the camera, which isn't all that important to me. Maemo looks really pretty, but at least from the outside, it seems like Android has a bigger app-base.

I've been using Symbian since the truly excellent Siemens SX1 .... but really don't see anything on Android thats worth jumping ship for. Sure, its fancy, but the N8 is looking like being a well rounded device.

It possibly doesn't have the eye candy of some other OS's out there, but the eye candy doesn't really help you do anything, and Symbian has always tended to be a very functional OS.
